The Round of 16 knockout stage of the Porto 2025 Billiards World Cup took place on the evening of July 4th. Frederic Caudron played in the first match, facing Dutch player Glenn Hofman. Prior to this, the Belgian prodigy had advanced through the Round of 32 with a perfect winning record, including a victory over the current world number one, Dick Jaspers.

Entering the round of 16 match, Caudron, playing with the white ball, started off incredibly fast with a 12-point series. After 3 innings, the Belgian player led 16-1. It wasn't until the 4th inning that Hofman responded with an 8-point series, narrowing the gap to 10-16.

Caudron, the prodigy, scored consistently, adding a series of 5s, before taking the match to halftime in the 8th inning, leading 26-10.
Right in the first inning after the break (inning 9), the Belgian prodigy added a series of 7 points to increase his lead to 23 points, 33-10 ahead of Hofman. The Dutch player then accelerated in the final moments, including a series of 9 points, to reduce the gap to 22-39.
But in the end, Frederic Caudron still won 50-40 after 20 innings. The Belgian player achieved a fairly high average performance of 2.5 (points/inning). Caudron is the first player to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Porto 2025 World Cup billiards.
In the other matches played at the same time, Cho Myung-woo defeated Tolgahan Kiraz 50-35. Eddy Merckx beat Peter Ceulemans 50-46. Gokhan Salman defeated Berkay Karakurt 50-43.
In the quarterfinals of the Porto 2025 World Cup billiards, Caudron will face Gokhan Salman, while Eddy Merckx will clash with Cho Myung-woo.
