The Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) confirmed that Japanese coach Tesuro Yuki has resigned after the Myanmar women's national team was eliminated from the 33rd SEA Games in the group stage.

Despite winning two consecutive matches against the Philippines and Malaysia, Myanmar's defeat to Vietnam in the final group stage match on December 11th meant they couldn't qualify for the semi-finals (Myanmar lost to Vietnam and the Philippines on goal difference, even though all three teams had 6 points).
Notably, this was also the first time since the 1995 SEA Games that the Myanmar women's football team was eliminated in the group stage, a surprising result for fans and experts alike, and leading to coach Tesuro Yuki's departure from his position.
Throughout their history of participating in the SEA Games, the Myanmar women's team has always been a strong team in the region. At the 32nd SEA Games held in Cambodia, under the guidance of coach Tesuro Yuki, the Myanmar women's team finished as runners-up.
And at the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Championship, the Myanmar women's team once again finished second, losing to the Australian women's team in the final.
However, Myanmar was eliminated from major tournaments such as the Olympic qualifiers and the Asian Cup qualifiers. Their elimination in the SEA Games group stage was the final straw, leading coach Tesuro Yuki to resign after two years in charge.
"We wish Tesuro Uki all the best in the future," the MFF statement said.
