Specifically, on the evening of September 24th, a landslide occurred along the Tien River bank. The landslide stretched for approximately 150 meters, extending about 15 meters inland, damaging 20 houses and causing the loss of agricultural land for local residents. Of these, 5 houses were completely destroyed, while the others suffered partial damage.
According to Mr. Bui Quoc Nam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cao Lanh Ward, the newly eroded area is located along the Tien River, adjacent to the old eroded section, and has so far damaged dozens of houses along the river.
Currently, local authorities have evacuated and relocated households and property from landslide-prone areas to safe locations. They have also posted landslide warning signs and deployed personnel on duty 24/7 to provide timely assistance and rescue. They continue to monitor the situation and provide timely information to relevant authorities to ensure rapid response measures and the safety of people's lives and property.
Previously, on September 20th, a landslide occurred in this area, extending approximately 20 meters inland and 100 meters in length, damaging 7 houses.
The People's Committee of Cao Lanh ward proposed that the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap province and other relevant agencies advise and submit to the People's Committee of Dong Thap province a decision to apply emergency measures to respond to and remedy landslides, and to allow the filling of sinkholes in this area to limit further landslides.
Mr. Tran Tri Quang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, requested the relevant departments and the People's Committee of Cao Lanh ward to coordinate with the consulting unit to thoroughly survey the landslide area, and at the same time study localized remediation measures, especially addressing the sinkhole and reinforcing the bank, in order to urgently address the landslide section and propose long-term solutions and plans.
