Accordingly, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan awarded certificates of commendation to the Neonatal Department of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital and four individuals: nurses Nguyen Thuy Trang, Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai, Tran Thi Hong, and Nguyen Thi Hong, all from the Neonatal Department of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.
The decision to award the certificates of commendation stated that the collective and individuals had acted bravely, protecting the safety of patients and their families in critical situations.
As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , at approximately 10:00 AM on October 23rd, an attack occurred on the 3rd floor of the 7-story building at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, resulting in multiple injuries. The suspect is BVV (29 years old, from Bac Ninh province, residing in Que Phong commune, Nghe An province), whose wife had recently given birth and was receiving treatment in the obstetrics department.
While visiting his wife and children, the man unexpectedly attacked those around him with a fruit knife. The incident resulted in seven injuries, including medical staff, who were then promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. Currently, the health of all seven victims is stable.
Following the incident, Mr. Ha Anh Duc, Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, Ministry of Health, also stated that the health sector has repeatedly proposed the establishment of an emergency alert system (hotline) in hospitals.
"In case of an emergency, all it takes is pressing a button, and security forces or police will arrive promptly within minutes," he said.
The Ministry of Health has directed the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management to coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security and the People's Committees of provinces and cities to conduct a comprehensive review of security measures at medical examination and treatment facilities.
At the same time, it is recommended that localities deploy professional security forces at provincial and central-level hospitals, strengthen surveillance camera systems and security checkpoints, along with solutions to provide psychological support and legal protection for medical staff who are subjected to violence while on duty.
