Dien Khanh Temple of Literature National Monument 40m of fence collapsed

Information received by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the flood from November 19 to 21 caused damage: about 30m of the 2m high fence of Trinh Phong Temple and 40m of the 2.5m high fence of Dien Khanh Temple of Literature completely collapsed.

To protect cultural heritage and promptly overcome the consequences of natural disasters, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requests the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province to inspect, review, and assess the level of damage and the technical status of the works and items of Trinh Phong Temple and Dien Khanh Temple of Literature in particular, and all other relics in the province in general.

The purpose is to promptly have plans to protect, reinforce, and support, absolutely not allowing the collapse or landslide of the structure to occur, to ensure the safety of both the relic and the people living around.

At the same time, organize inventory, review, and evaluate the preservation status of relics and antiquities inside relics affected or at risk of damage due to rain, floods, and mold, thereby developing timely preservation plans to avoid irreparable losses.

Prioritize funding and assign the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province to continue reviewing areas and wall sections that have collapsed (at Trinh Phong Temple, Dien Khanh Temple of Literature) and relics at risk of collapse and landslides.

Urgently develop a plan to restore and prevent degradation of relics in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage No. 45/2024/QH15 and Decree No. 208/2025/ND-CP dated July 17, 2025 of the Government , and submit it to competent authorities for consideration and decision.

Strengthen propaganda and guide the community to participate in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. Detect and warn early signs of abnormalities for timely response and remediation.
