On the afternoon of September 8, coach Philippe Troussier announced the shortlist of 26 players for the Vietnamese team to prepare for the friendly match with Palestine on FIFA Days in September.

Accordingly, the group of players not in the French coach's plan for this match includes defender Bui Tien Dung, Hoang Thai Binh , midfielder Nguyen Huu Son, Duong Van Hao and striker Dinh Thanh Binh.
Among these, Bui Tien Dung's elimination attracted the most attention because he is one of Vietnam's top central defenders, highly trusted under coach Park Hang-seo.
Of the 4 players transferred from the U23 Vietnam team to the Vietnam national team, including Andrej Nguyen An Khanh, Dang Tuan Phong, Giap Tuan Duong and Tran Nam Hai, only defender Giap Tuan Duong remained on the shortlist.
Defender Tran Nam Hai was added to the Vietnam Olympic team to prepare for the 19th Asiad.
Regarding the case of Vietnamese-American player Nguyen An Khanh, despite his great efforts, this 18-year-old midfielder has not yet met the coaching staff's professional requirements. However, coach Philippe Troussier still highly appreciates An Khanh's potential and is willing to create the best conditions for this player to develop.
The call-up of An Khanh to the national team's training list also shows the desire of VFF and the national team's coaching staff to attract resources from overseas Vietnamese players. However, the competition is fair for all players, whoever meets the requirements of the coaching staff and has good form will be selected.
According to plan, the Vietnamese team will have one more day of training in Hanoi before moving to Nam Dinh on September 10 to prepare for the friendly match against Palestine.
The match will take place at Thien Truong Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on September 11. Before traveling to Nam Dinh, Coach Troussier will finalize the list of 23 players participating in the match.
