The whole country has added 1,188 People's Teachers and Excellent Teachers.

This year, the President of Vietnam awarded the title of People's Teacher to 21 teachers and the title of Excellent Teacher to 1,167 teachers.

This morning, November 17th, the Ministry of Education and Training hosted the 16th awarding ceremony for the titles of People's Teacher and Excellent Teacher, and honored outstanding teachers of 2024.

The Ministry of Education and Training stated that the awarding of the titles of People's Teacher and Excellent Teacher is carried out through councils at various levels. Accordingly, teachers who meet the standards and conditions regarding pedagogical talent, have made significant contributions to the cause of education and training, possess professional prestige, and have influence in their field are selected to be submitted to the competent authority for consideration, and then presented to the President of Vietnam for the conferment of the honorary titles of People's Teacher and Excellent Teacher.

At the national level, the Ministry of Education and Training, as the standing agency of the awarding council in 2023, received 1,225 applications, including 24 applications for the title of People's Teacher and 1,201 applications for the title of Excellent Teacher, of which 33 were teachers from ethnic minority groups. Based on current legal regulations, the national-level council met, voted, and submitted the applications to the Prime Minister for consideration, and then to the President.

251 outstanding teachers

In addition to the titles of People's Teacher and Excellent Teacher, since 2017, the Ministry of Education and Training has organized the selection of "Outstanding Teacher of the Year" to recognize and honor teachers and educational administrators who have made exceptionally outstanding contributions, creating positive and effective changes within their units, and having a ripple effect throughout the entire sector. This creates motivation to promote the spirit of innovation and creativity among teachers and educational administrators nationwide, contributing to the successful implementation of fundamental and comprehensive reforms in education and training.

From 2017 to 2023, through 7 rounds of selecting outstanding teachers, the Minister of Education and Training signed decisions to award certificates of merit to 1,600 teachers.

By 2024, the Ministry of Education and Training had received 252 applications for the 2024 Outstanding Teacher Selection Award. The Council selected 251 outstanding teachers. The selected teachers all have outstanding and excellent achievements in nurturing, teaching, education, and management; they are dedicated and committed to their profession; they have professional prestige; and they have a wide-ranging influence within their sector, field, or at the district or provincial level.

At the same time, teachers actively participate in social and community activities, serving the community or supporting the education and upbringing of students with special circumstances to help them excel in their studies, building schools and classrooms, encouraging students with special or difficult circumstances to attend school and maintaining student enrollment, contributing to positive and effective changes within the unit, with a ripple effect in the locality or throughout the entire sector.

By 2024, after eight rounds of selecting outstanding teachers, the Minister of Education and Training had signed decisions awarding certificates of merit to 1,851 teachers.

Speaking at the ceremony, the leader of the Ministry of Education and Training assessed: "Our teaching force is large in number, and overall, they always uphold and promote the qualities of a teacher, always have a spirit of innovation and creativity, are at the forefront in fulfilling social responsibility, and wholeheartedly dedicate themselves to their beloved students. Many teachers have not been honored today, but they have been silently and diligently imparting knowledge, inspiring, nurturing character, and sowing the seeds of the future for generations of students."
