Beach resorts in Thanh Hoa are deserted on September 2nd

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - The 4-day National Day holiday on September 2 this year is expected to be a bustling time for the tourism industry. However, it has been noted that many famous coastal tourist areas in Thanh Hoa province such as Sam Son, Hai Tien,... have seen fewer visitors than in previous years.

According to restaurant and hotel owners in Hai Tien beach resort , before the holiday, the impact of storm No. 6 caused heavy rain in the area, high waves, and cloudy skies, making tourists afraid to go to the beach.

Many tourists have canceled tours or shortened their vacations just before the holiday, leaving coastal resorts, hotels, and restaurants empty.

Some resort and entertainment systems have had to close 80% of their services due to a lack of tourists.

Mr. Tran Duy Khanh, director of the Santoni Villa Flamigo Hai Tien system, said: "This year, the number of guests coming to Flamigo for vacation is very low. Previously, guests also booked about 30% of rooms, but due to storms, almost all of them were canceled."

Besides the weather factor, another reason why Thanh Hoa beach tourism is less exciting is because this year's holiday coincides with the parade celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day at Ba Dinh Square, Hanoi .

Therefore, at the beaches of Sam Son tourist area, tourists do not flock as crowded as the same period last year.

The coastal roads are sparsely populated, restaurants and hotels are open but the number of visitors is still quite low, mainly local visitors who do not need to stay for a long time. Ms. Nguyen Thi Chung, owner of Chung Chau Hotel, Sam Son Ward said: "Last year, there were a lot of visitors to Sam Son at this time, we were almost overloaded, but this year there are very few and until now, the holiday is almost over but there are still no visitors".

Previously, the People's Committee of Sam Son Ward had set a target of welcoming about 200 - 300 thousand visitors, but so far the number of visitors has only reached about 60% of the set target. However, the People's Committee of Sam Son Ward also assessed that in the coming days, the number of domestic tourists may increase even more.
