Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh emphasized that our Party and State always affirm that education and training are the top national policies, and science and technology, innovation and creativity are the driving forces for the country's development and prosperity.
To keep up with the trend of the times, meet the expectations of the Party and the State, and make worthy contributions to the development of the country in the era of national prosperity, the First Deputy Prime Minister shared with the University of Forestry a number of key tasks and solutions, in which the University of Forestry must constantly improve the quality of training and scientific research, closely linked with practice. Graduates must be quality forestry experts, with both knowledge and a solid foundation, as well as practical skills, diverse soft skills and the ability to work in a practical environment.
“When employers appreciate and enthusiastically seek out students of the University of Forestry, this is proof of our success,” said the First Deputy Prime Minister.
Another task assigned to the school by Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh is that the school must be the leading training, scientific research and technology transfer facility in Vietnam and on par with the region in the forestry field; prioritize investment in developing key and cutting-edge scientific research directions to meet the requirements of forest protection and development, wood processing industry and non-timber forest products, in accordance with regional and international quality standards.
According to the Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, the university's scientific research space is very spacious, very attractive, very essential, especially when climate change is becoming more and more extreme and becoming a threat not only to forests but also to our increasingly small planet. Accordingly, the university needs to research on: Climate change and sustainable adaptation; biodiversity conservation and sustainable development; research to find prosperous and friendly livelihoods for people under the forest canopy; development of 4.0 generation forestry technology and forest product processing; research on forestry economics and forest resource management policies associated with increasingly attractive carbon markets; research on services, ecosystems and non-timber values of forests; research on the application of information technology and AI in forest development and protection.
The Permanent Deputy Prime Minister also requested the school to build a team of lecturers and scientific researchers to meet practical requirements; innovate curriculum, teaching and learning methods, improve training quality, keep up with the requirements of real life and the development of science and technology.
“The school's teaching staff must be passionate people who understand and love the forest more than anyone else, constantly innovate and always make every effort to guide and impart that great knowledge and love to students,” the First Deputy Prime Minister expressed.
