Cam Ly: Focus on connecting and finding jobs for people

Being disabled and unskilled, thanks to the connection of the Women's Union of Dong Cong village, Mr. Vu Van S came to learn and was then accepted as a worker at the garment factory of Phuong Huong One Member Limited Liability Company (same village).

Being a skillful, hard-working and eager to learn person, Mr. S initially got used to the job, earning more than 3 million VND/month. In the same village as Mr. S, Ms. Tran Thi Nam (born in 1966) was also hired as a finished product packaging worker at this enterprise, with a stable income. "I worked on 2 hectares of rice fields and also worked part-time at a garment factory near my house. The job does not require high technical skills and is suitable for my age, helping me earn extra income to cover my living expenses," Ms. Nam shared.

According to statistics, Cam Ly commune currently has nearly 11,300 people of working age. Every year, the People's Committee of the commune has specific plans and implements many solutions to create jobs for people; in which priority is given to solving jobs right in the locality through job introductions at factories, enterprises and cooperatives in the area.

Currently, enterprises, garment factories, mechanics and production facilities in the commune are creating regular jobs for about 300 local workers, with stable income. For example, Bat Trang Ancient Brick and Tile Company (Lich Son village) is creating jobs and stable income for more than 30 local workers. Many families in the commune have 2-3 people, some families have 4 people working at the enterprise with an income of 8-10 million VND/person/month. Similarly, some transportation enterprises in the area also create many jobs for workers.

Mr. Vu Tri Linh (born in 1977), Giap Son village, Cam Ly commune said: "Previously, I drove a car for a company in Bac Giang ward. Although I earned more than 10 million VND/month, the cost of living and renting a house was high, so I didn't have much savings. At the beginning of this year, I was introduced to driving for a company near my home, which not only saved me money but also saved me time to be close to and take care of my children."

In fact, in order to create more jobs for local people, recently, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Cam Ly commune have focused on effectively implementing policies to support the development of enterprises, cooperatives and individual business households.

Currently, the whole commune has 22 enterprises, 6 cooperatives and 80 individual business households operating effectively, contributing to creating jobs, increasing income for people and promoting socio-economic development. However, through assessment, the number of enterprises in the area is still small, small scale, labor demand is not much; the rate of trained workers in the commune is still low (currently reaching 70%)...

To overcome this situation, in the 2025 - 2030 term, Cam Ly commune determined to focus on effectively exploiting land potential and the advantage of being adjacent to Hai Phong city to shift the economic structure towards rapidly increasing the proportion of industry - construction and trade - services, reducing the proportion of agriculture. Promote the development of the private economy, identifying this as an important driving force to promote growth, increase income, create jobs, and arouse the desire to get rich legitimately among the people.

In order to have a quality labor source to meet the needs of enterprises, the Department of Culture and Society of Cam Ly commune is interested in consulting and opening vocational training classes right in the locality; propagating and introducing laborers in the commune to work at enterprises and factories in industrial zones and clusters in the province. The commune regularly updates the recruitment needs of enterprises to inform the people; supports households to access preferential loans to invest in economic development, vocational training, and labor export.

With the goal of creating jobs, increasing income, and sustainably reducing poverty for people, the Department of Culture and Society of Cam Ly commune focuses on reviewing people's needs to connect and introduce jobs suitable to each person's capacity and strengths. Along with that, well implementing the policy of supporting vocational training for rural workers, promoting labor restructuring.
