In Nhon Mai commune, Mr. Le Hong Thai said that after meeting to agree on the policy with the villages and hamlets, the People's Committee of the commune established working groups with local forces to go directly to the villages and hamlets to both guide people to evacuate and eat and live with them in order to promptly respond to situations that may arise during storms and floods that are expected to occur in the near future.

“The staff of the working groups brought personal belongings, lighting equipment, and food to the people, to eat and stay together, and only returned to the headquarters and home after the storm was over and the people were safe. In Nhon Mai commune, the forces assessed that there is still a risk of landslides and flooding, of which the most vulnerable are 4 villages: Pieng Coc, Xoi Voi, Pha Mut, and Huoi To 2. The commune has directed all 21/21 villages to evacuate people tonight to community houses, schools, and high places to ensure safety; or to take temporary shelter in unaffected houses.

The remaining 13 households in Pha Mut village who are currently living temporarily in tents that were previously set up also need to be relocated, because the tents are set up under the forest canopy when the storm hits, and trees may fall, making it unsafe. As for the shacks and 14 households in Pha Mut village whose houses were swept away and currently do not have a home, the commune is supporting them to relocate to a temporary location at the market near the commune center, with a total of 85 people.

Specifically, Mr. Vi Van Son said that, in the immediate future, the commune officials have distributed food to households to ensure that people have enough for at least 2 weeks. It is expected that the main evacuation locations will be Ta Do village, households along streams, and households near vulnerable locations at risk of landslides. People will be evacuated to locations including: Ta Do Border Control Station; households on higher ground are less affected. Households in Xop Phe, Huoi Kho villages and households near the old Muong Tip Commune People's Committee will be evacuated to the old Muong Tip Commune People's Committee Headquarters and the Cha Lap Village Cultural House.

Households in Xop Tip, Xop Phong, and Na Mi villages are expected to be relocated to higher ground, cultural houses, and to the anti-landslide tents near the old Muong Ai Border Post headquarters. These tents still have sturdy iron frames and can be used temporarily, and are arranged along the slope of Highway 543D. Currently, youth forces and militia are cleaning, clearing, and sanitizing the housing areas for people to relocate to avoid and take shelter from storm No. 5.
