Regarding this illegal construction, in August 2022, the Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee issued a decision to fine Mr. Hung 61.5 million VND for organizing construction work that was not in accordance with the approved construction plan and converting perennial land to non-agricultural land in rural areas. Before the COVID-19 outbreak, the building on Tran Hung Dao Street in Cua Lap Hamlet, Duong To Commune, Phu Quoc City was only 6 stories high, but was later added 6 more stories to make it a 12-story building.

Mr. Vu Manh Hung was forced to dismantle the illegal construction works with an area of 2,746m2 on plots of land number 639, 645, 9, and 129. At the same time, restore the original state of the land before the violation with an area of 473m2.
