World oil prices stabilized on Tuesday as markets watched Ukraine's attacks on Russian oil infrastructure, amid stalled peace talks that dampened hopes of a deal that could restore Russian oil flows, Reuters reported.

Ukraine has attacked the Druzhba pipeline in the Tambov region of central Russia, Ukrainian military intelligence said on Wednesday. It was the fifth such attack on the pipeline, which carries Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia. However, the pipeline operator and the Hungarian oil and gas corporation said supplies were operating normally.

“Ukraine’s drone campaign against Russian oil facilities has entered a more sustained and strategically coordinated phase,” consulting firm Kpler said in a report.

According to Kpler, this caused Russia's refining capacity to fall to around 5 million barrels per day in the September-November period, down 335,000 barrels per day compared to the same period last year, with gasoline being hit the hardest and diesel output also falling significantly.

Oil prices received support from a view that progress on a peace plan for Ukraine was stalling, after representatives of US President Donald Trump ended a round of talks with the Kremlin without any breakthrough in ending the conflict.

“War and political factors, in the context of abundant inventories, expected surplus supply and OPEC's strategy to maintain market share, are keeping Brent prices in the range of 60 - 70 USD/barrel,” PVM experts assessed.

Expectations of a peace deal had previously put downward pressure on prices, as traders predicted a possible return of Russian oil amid an already oversupplied global supply.

Meanwhile, US crude and fuel inventories rose last week as refining activity edged up, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Crude inventories rose 574,000 barrels to 427.5 million barrels in the week ended November 28, compared with analysts' forecasts in a Reuters survey for a decrease of 821,000 barrels.

Fitch Ratings on Thursday also revised down its oil price assumptions for the 2025-2027 period, reflecting oversupply and production growth forecast to outpace demand.
