(Dan Tri) - The education sector of Quang Nam province has warned that some students are using social media to buy KumanThong dolls to worship at home, and buy cakes and candies to "eat" the dolls with the aim of praying for good luck and good grades.

On December 26, the Departmentof Education and Training of Quang Nam province sent a document to the Departments of Education and Training of districts, towns, and cities, as well as school principals, requesting coordination to ensure security in educational institutions.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province, the provincial police have discovered a situation where some students in the area bought KumanThong dolls through social networks to worship, hoping for good luck and good study. The students also bought cakes, candies, milk and soft drinks to "feed" the dolls.

Many people have taken advantage of students’ gullibility and curiosity to lure them into believing and buying dolls. Police warn that this is a dangerous superstitious activity, causing confusion and fear, negatively affecting students, families and society.

To ensure security and order, Quang Nam Provincial Police requested the Department of Education and Training to direct specialized units and educational institutions to strengthen propaganda and education to raise awareness among students. Units need to prevent the exploitation of propaganda and enticement to participate in illegal activities, especially superstition and illegal religious activities.

If any related cases are discovered, Quang Nam Provincial Police will request local Departments of Education and Training and school principals to promptly discuss and handle them.

It is known that KumanThong dolls are a form of superstition originating from Thailand, rumored to have many supernatural spiritual powers, bringing luck and fortune to the owner, and have spread to Vietnam.
