Certificate of Merit awarded to Major who heroically sacrificed while pursuing drug criminals in Quang Ninh

(Chinhphu.vn) - Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh signed Decision No. 794/QD-TTg dated April 18, 2025 to award the "Fatherland's Gratitude" Certificate to Mr. Nguyen Dang Khai, rank: Major, Department of Drug Crime Investigation Police, Quang Ninh Provincial Police, Ministry of Public Security, who sacrificed his life while performing the task of fighting and arresting criminals of illegal drug trafficking.

Major Nguyen Dang Khai, born in 1996, heroically sacrificed his life while pursuing drug criminals.

Previously, through the fight against the inter-provincial drug trafficking and transportation ring, at about 8:20 p.m. on April 17, in the area near Dragon Castle apartment building (in Group 10, Zone 10, Bai Chay ward, Ha Long city, Quang Ninh ), the Quang Ninh Provincial Police working group chaired by the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department discovered and arrested 2 subjects, seizing 16 heroin cakes.

During the pursuit of the remaining suspects, the suspects used military weapons to attack the police force, causing Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Dang Khai, Department of Drug Crime Investigation (Quang Ninh Provincial Police) to be shot and killed, and two other comrades were injured.

The Minister of Public Security signed Decision No. 2786/QD-BCA-X01 dated April 18, 2025 to promote the rank of Lieutenant to Major (promotion beyond rank) from April 17, 2025 for Mr. Nguyen Dang Khai.
