DNVN - OpenAI has launched a new search feature for ChatGPT, marking an important step forward in the race with major competitors such as Google, Microsoft Bing and Perplexity.
Rather than creating a separate product, OpenAI opted to integrate search functionality directly into its popular chatbot tool. This feature will provide users with quick, up-to-date answers, along with links to reliable sources of information.
The new feature is built on a refined GPT-4o model, combined with third-party search providers and content from partners. ChatGPT Plus and Team users can use the feature starting October 31, while business andeducation users will get access in the coming weeks. Free users will have the opportunity to experience the feature in the coming months.
OpenAI has established partnerships with many major publishers such as Condé Nast, Time, Financial Times, Axel Springer, Le Monde, and Prisa Media. Any website or publisher has the potential to appear in ChatGPT's search results.
The move comes after OpenAI successfully raised $6.6 billion from investors, valuing the company at around $157 billion, cementing its position as one of the most valuable private companies in the world .
