Asian Youth Games trouble
Held every four years, the Games are an important playground for young talents of the continent, thereby measuring the strength and investment in young athletes of countries and territories. However, after the first time held in 2009 in Singapore, the second time held in Nanjing (China) in 2013, in 2017 the Games were scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka and then Indonesia but were eventually canceled. In 2021, the Covid-19 pandemic caused the Asian Youth Games to be canceled again. Returning this year, the Games were initially scheduled to be held in Uzbekistan but were later officially hosted by Bahrain.

In previous participations in the Asian Youth Games, Vietnam had the most successful competition in 2013 when it won 5 gold medals thanks to Nguyen Thi Anh Vien (3 gold medals, swimming), Ly Hoang Nam (1 gold medal, tennis), Nguyen Thi Truc Mai (1 gold medal, athletics). After this congress, Anh Vien continuously reaped success in the international arena, dominating the SEA Games arena and constantly improving her performance, competing in continental and world swimming competitions. Similarly, Ly Hoang Nam later also stepped up to conquer the professional tennis world, winning many championship titles in the international tennis competition system, reaching the highest ranking in his career of 231 in the world. The long interruption of the Asian Youth Games has significantly affected the training and building of successor forces in countries and territories in the region. Vietnamese sports are also somewhat affected, because until now we have not seen any talent capable of replacing the seniors Ly Hoang Nam and Nguyen Thi Anh Vien.
Waiting for young faces to shine
At the 2025 Asian Youth Games, the Vietnamese sports delegation with 75 members will compete in athletics, badminton, jujitsu, boxing, judo, wrestling, weightlifting, taekwondo, golf, cycling, and muay. Unfortunately, Vietnam will not be present in some attractive sports such as volleyball, basketball, futsal, etc.
The leaders of the Vietnam Sports Administration said that the athletes participating in the 2025 Asian Youth Games were carefully selected and well-prepared both professionally and mentally. They promise to be the next generation of Vietnamese athletes to compete for high achievements in the ASIAD and Olympic arenas.
Since the beginning of September, members training for the 2025 Asian Youth Games have enjoyed special treatment. In addition to training, many athletes have also been given the opportunity to participate in domestic and international tournaments to hone their skills and battle experience. At this congress, the Vietnamese sports delegation expects the brilliance of talents such as Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen (badminton), Hoang Le Quynh Nhu (athletics), Y Lien, Dao Thi Yen (weightlifting), Tran Mai Anh, Le Phan Tuan Kiet, Bui Mai Phuong (taekwondo), Nguyen Khang Ha My, Bui Dam Mai Chi (bicycling), Dinh Thi Ru Na, Nguyen Thi Hong Yen (boxing)...
