On November 27, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital ( Hanoi ) announced that it had just received consecutive patients hospitalized due to playing with homemade fireworks.

Previously, NK (13 years old) and NTA (14 years old) were two cousins living in Vinh Phuc who ordered explosives and learned how to make fireworks online. The homemade fireworks exploded, sending both of them to the hospital with bloody wounds on both hands.

In which, the injuries on both hands of K. were very severe, crushed, and the metacarpal joints were broken open.

The remaining case is a 12-year-old patient residing in Hung Yen who was hospitalized with a broken left hand and a wound on his left leg.

At Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, every Tet holiday and pre-Tet, the number of accidents caused by homemade firecrackers always increases significantly.

The main causes are often the purchase of illegal fireworks of unknown origin, accessing unofficial information on social networks, and making fireworks on their own. These accidents not only cause serious physical injuries but also leave serious psychological and financial consequences for the patient and his family.

Doctors advise people not to make or use illegal fireworks, especially homemade fireworks. This is not only a violation of the law but also poses a risk of causing serious injury, even death.

People need to raise awareness, absolutely do not buy, sell or use illegal fireworks and need to guide their children to stay away from these dangerous actions to protect their own safety and the community.
