Meta Group's President of Global External Affairs advises students to always keep an open mind, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn.
According to information from Hanoi National University, on September 30, Chairman of Global External Relations of Meta Group, Mr. Nick Clegg visited the school and interacted and shared with students about the topic of the Future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Vietnam. The event was attended by more than 100 students from the University of Natural Sciences and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi National University.
Mr. Nick Clegg said that artificial intelligence (AI) has been a fundamental component of Meta's technology for many years and Meta believes that open and responsible AI is the key to activating the spirit of innovation, contributing to economic growth. Therefore, Meta has worked closely with Hanoi National University to build a program to improve digital skills for students through training programs, courses and extracurricular activities.
“This collaborative initiative has been a huge success and we are excited about the next phase of our collaboration. We will focus on developing credit-bearing AI advanced courses that will equip Vietnamese students with the skills and knowledge to shape their futures by leveraging AI technology,” said Nick Clegg.
According to Mr. Nick Clegg, Vietnam's current strengths are its relatively young population (about 60% of the population is between the ages of 15 and 35) and the relatively large number of engineers trained and graduated each year. With quick thinking, entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm, young people in Vietnam will play an important role in promoting the application of AI, technology development and innovation.
He also hopes that there is a need to have an optimistic view of technology and innovation to demonstrate the value of AI, not only in creating future career opportunities but also in applying AI to develop new solutions, contributing to solving major challenges in the fields of education, health care, research, etc.
During the interaction with students, Mr. Nick Clegg shared about Meta's plans to develop AI and virtual reality technology as well as gave advice on how to succeed in the field of information and communication technology or advice on parents' concerns about their children's use of technology.
He believes that in addition to expertise, young people need to be aware of the technological changes taking place in the world, especially in the context of increasingly high competition. In each person's life, things do not always go as planned and there will be twists and turns, but he believes that with the development of Generative AI (GenAI), young people have many opportunities to develop themselves. Therefore, the President of Global External Relations of Meta Group advises students to always keep an open mind, enthusiasm, and a spirit of readiness to learn.
Sharing at the event, Vice President of Hanoi National University Dao Thanh Truong expressed his appreciation for the attention of the President in charge of Global External Relations of Meta Group for Hanoi National University as well as for taking the time to share and interact with students.
According to Mr. Dao Thanh Truong, the project to improve digital capacity for students has been initially successfully implemented at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. This is an important step forward, creating a solid foundation for young generations of Vietnam to access global technology and knowledge. Mr. Truong hopes that Meta will continue to create conditions to expand the project not only within the scope of Hanoi National University but also to other educational institutions across the country.
The Vice President of Hanoi National University also hopes that Meta will promote a number of projects on park construction and the establishment of a Technology Incubator in the urban space of Hanoi National University in Hoa Lac to improve the quality of student life, promote scientific and technological potential as well as contribute to promoting the image of the Group./.
