Speaking at the 80th anniversary celebration of the Agriculture and Environment Newspaper on the evening of December 4, Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association , Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, assessed that Agriculture and Environment Newspaper possesses a special foundation that is rare in the Vietnamese press system.

“Few newspapers are as old as the country,” he said, adding that its founding in 1945 – coinciding with the time when Vietnam entered the era of independence – created a unique position and was an important advantage for the newspaper to continue expanding its influence in the new period.

Mr. Minh emphasized that the changes after the merger have expanded the scale, increased coverage and created conditions for the newspaper to "speak accurately and accurately" about the issues of the agricultural and environmental sectors - two fields that are under great pressure from climate change, the global agricultural market and the need for sustainable development.

According to him, this is the time for the newsroom to take advantage of historical advantages, practice in-depth analysis, improve data quality and strengthen the newspaper's role as an information reference in policy and practice.

Agriculture and Environment Newspaper currently has about 200 staff, reporters, editors and employees, with a system of 7 representative offices nationwide.

This network allows the editorial office to directly access growing areas, breeding areas, processing industrial zones and areas heavily affected by extreme weather, thereby creating a rich source of practical materials - a decisive factor in the quality of specialized journalism.

In recent years, the output of news and in-depth articles has grown steadily, especially in groups of topics such as green economy , sustainable development, climate change response, agricultural market transition, and quality of exported agricultural products.

Previously, the newspaper launched a special issue "Inch of Land - 80 years of cultivating knowledge", recreating the journey from a production promotion agency of the Ministry of Agriculture to a multi-platform newspaper in the digital age.

Also on the morning of December 4, the newspaper's staff held a ceremony to pay their respects to President Ho Chi Minh, an activity of special significance on the occasion of his 80th anniversary, recalling his teachings on the mission of serving farmers, rural areas and agriculture - the three pillars that the newspaper has pursued throughout its 8-decade journey.

Many generations of reporters of the newspaper have been in remote areas, following natural disasters, crops, irrigation, forest protection or environmental pollution to reflect core issues affecting people's lives.

On this special occasion, Mr. Le Quoc Minh sent his congratulations to the staff and reporters and affirmed high expectations for the new journey.

He suggested that the Agriculture and Environment Newspaper should continue to maintain the quality of information, develop in-depth analytical articles and enhance the connecting role between policy - people - businesses.
