According to President Vo Van Thuong of Tuyen Quang, planting trees is a beautiful and meaningful act; each tree planted is a priceless gift to the future and future generations.
On the morning of February 15th (the 6th day of the Lunar New Year, Year of the Dragon), President Vo Van Thuong attended the tree-planting festival in Kim Phu commune, Tuyen Quang city. He stated that, following President Ho Chi Minh 's teaching, "Spring is the time for tree planting - making the country ever more vibrant," since 1960, Vietnamese people have organized the tree-planting festival at the beginning of each year. To date, this movement has become a beautiful cultural tradition that brings immense benefits to the country.
In 2023, the whole country planted 260,000 hectares of concentrated forest and 127 million scattered trees, contributing to a stable supply of raw materials for the processing industry and exports. The forest cover rate exceeded 42%. For the first time, Vietnam successfully transferred 10.3 million tons of carbon emission reductions, worth 1,200 billion VND.

The President stated that in the context of increasingly severe global climate change and declining biodiversity, Vietnam's consistent and overarching policy is to aim for sustainable development, resolutely respond to climate change, and build a green, circular, and environmentally friendly economy.
Vietnam is gradually fulfilling its commitments to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, with technological and financial support from developed countries. Therefore, the task of protecting the ecological environment, planting trees, and preserving forests is becoming increasingly important.
The President expressed his hope that Tuyen Quang province would unleash its potential and advantages in forest resources and forestry land, linking reforestation and biodiversity conservation with preserving traditional cultural identity, improving people's lives, and achieving rapid and sustainable development.
"Planting trees is a beautiful and meaningful act; each tree planted is a priceless gift to the future for generations to come. Trees have helped sustain our lives, so we need to protect and plant more trees with love, gratitude, and humility towards beautiful nature," the President emphasized.
Following the President's drum signal to launch the Tree Planting Festival, approximately 3,000 trees are expected to be planted in Tuyen Quang this time, marking the beginning of the new year's tree planting and reforestation season.
