At the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai reported to the Chairman of the National Assembly and the delegation on the results of the Embassy's work, the state of bilateral relations between Vietnam and China, and the work related to Vietnamese people in China.
Representatives of the Vietnamese community in China expressed their gratitude for the time given by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the high-level Vietnamese delegation upon their arrival in Beijing. They also stated that over the years, the community has received significant attention and support from the Embassy through many practical activities, making them feel warm and secure, as if their homeland is always with them and looking towards them. The representatives affirmed their continued unity, solidarity, mutual support for development, and their commitment to contributing to their homeland.
According to Le Duc Anh, Secretary of the Party Branch of Vietnamese Students in China, with over 1,000 Vietnamese students in Beijing (out of a total of over 10,000 students in China), these students are always striving to study and research, actively participating in activities promoting the image of Vietnam, thereby leaving a positive impression of Vietnam, its people, and its youth on Chinese and international friends. The Secretary of the Party Branch of Vietnamese Students in China hopes that a network of innovation will be established in the future, connecting Vietnamese students in China; affirming their readiness to participate in and contribute to the development of the country.

On behalf of the high-level Vietnamese delegation, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue cordially extended his warmest greetings and best wishes to all staff and employees of the Embassy, Vietnamese representative offices, and the Vietnamese community in China; expressing his joy and emotion at visiting the Embassy and meeting so many people on his first visit to Beijing.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue stated that he had visited China many times, but this was his first official visit in his capacity as Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly, at the invitation of Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, Zhao Leji. This was also the first visit to China by a Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman in five years. The visit is of significant importance, following two historically significant visits by the two highest-ranking leaders of the two countries' Parties and States: the visit of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to China in 2022 – the first foreign leader China invited to an official visit immediately after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China – and the visit of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to Vietnam in December 2023.
The Chairman of the National Assembly stated that during the 2023 visit of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to Vietnam, the two sides issued a Joint Statement on further deepening and elevating the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, building a Vietnam-China Community with a shared future, which has strategic significance with six "mores". This is a very important milestone that brings the relations between the two Parties, the two States, and the people of the two countries into a new phase, defining a new position for bilateral relations.
Emphasizing the significant importance of this visit in maintaining the momentum of high-level contacts and high-level strategic exchanges between the two Parties and States of Vietnam and China, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue stated that the 2023 Vietnam-China Joint Statement has "newly positioned" Vietnam-China relations, and it is the responsibility of all of us to implement and concretize the common understanding between the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries, bringing about more concrete and positive results, especially in the six pillars of cooperation that have been identified. The National Assembly Chairman also stressed the task of strengthening, consolidating, and further tightening the already warm and long-standing relationship between the legislative bodies of the two countries, promoting the role of parliamentary cooperation in implementing and concretizing the strategic cooperation orientations between the two countries.
At the meeting, the Speaker of the National Assembly stated that, within the framework of the visit, there will be meetings, talks, and contacts with key leaders of the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese government, as well as leaders of several Chinese localities, immediately after the second session of the Two Sessions in 2024... This is an important opportunity for both sides to have in-depth strategic exchanges on major issues in bilateral relations as well as international and regional situations of mutual concern.
Regarding the activities of the National Assembly, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue stated that, in the context of many difficulties and challenges due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the complex and unpredictable developments in the international situation, the National Assembly has been proactive, flexible, creative, and innovative in its organization and operation, effectively performing its functions and tasks, and making a worthy contribution to the overall achievements of our country.
Since the beginning of the 15th National Assembly's term, the National Assembly has successfully held 12 sessions, including 6 extraordinary sessions, and is actively preparing for the 7th session to be held in May. The National Assembly has made timely, correct, and appropriate decisions that meet the demands of reality, including many special and unprecedented decisions aimed at promptly addressing new and difficult issues arising in the recent special context. In terms of legislation, the National Assembly has passed many important laws with a constructive and development-oriented spirit, including many new policies related to the Vietnamese community abroad.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue acknowledged and commended the important contributions of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in China to the bilateral relationship. The Chairman expressed his hope that the Vietnamese Embassy would continue to implement and promote the more effective implementation of existing cooperation mechanisms between the two countries; focus on studying China's experience in Party building, anti-corruption, and corporate governance; and closely coordinate to jointly research and propose new cooperation mechanisms that are suitable to the specific conditions of both countries, beneficial to both countries, and in accordance with international law.
The Chairman of the National Assembly requested that the Vietnamese Embassy and Consulates General in China, having already shown interest, should pay even more attention to community work, citizen protection, and association activities.
The Speaker of the National Assembly also stated that recently, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son had answered questions at the Standing Committee of the National Assembly session regarding diplomatic work and the protection of Vietnamese citizens abroad, which was well received and highly appreciated by the National Assembly deputies.

The Speaker of the National Assembly welcomed the proposal from representatives of Vietnamese students studying in China to establish an innovation network to attract the participation of Vietnamese students in China to contribute to the country's development.
The Chairman of the National Assembly affirmed that the Party and the State always consider the Vietnamese community abroad, including the Vietnamese community in China, as an inseparable part of the great national unity, and as one of the driving forces and sources of strength for the country's development.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his hope that the Vietnamese community in China would continue to uphold the spirit of mutual support and solidarity, helping each other to develop together; strive to excel, integrate actively, abide by the law, and contribute to the development of the host country; and at the same time, always look towards their homeland, proactively making practical and effective contributions in terms of intellect and resources to the cause of national construction and development; serving as a bridge for the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
