The match against Hanoi FC marks Binh Duong FC's third away game at Hang Day Stadium, after only eight matches this season. While the home team, Hanoi FC, is struggling with four draws and has fallen to the lower half of the table, the visiting team, Binh Duong, has also displayed unimpressive away form with only four points from four matches, including two 0-1 defeats against Hanoi Police FC and The Cong Viettel FC, both at Hang Day Stadium.
Binh Duong Club (in white shirts) opted for a cautious defensive approach.
Binh Duong FC opted for a cautious approach, playing solidly in midfield and seizing opportunities for quick attacks. Conversely, Hanoi FC launched an all-out attack, with no room for retreat. Despite conceding a dangerous header that hit the post, Hanoi FC, with their superior squad and cohesive play, maintained control of the game.
With Pham Tuan Hai, Nguyen Van Quyet, Nguyen Hai Long, and Joao Pedro in attack, Hanoi FC consistently exploited the gaps behind Binh Duong's defense.
Hanoi FC's pressure was evident in Hai Long's goal in the 26th minute. After a one-two pass with a teammate, Van Quyet dribbled straight into the Binh Duong penalty area, then threaded a pass to Hai Long, who was one-on-one with the goalkeeper. From a tight angle, Hai Long chose to curl the ball past goalkeeper Tran Minh Toan to open the scoring.
Hai Long shines again.
After conceding a goal, the visiting team Binh Duong again left gaps in their defense. In the 36th minute, Do Hung Dung intercepted the ball from a misplaced pass by the opponent and passed it back to Van Quyet for a shot, but Que Ngoc Hai made a diving save to block the Hanoi captain's attempt. In the 39th minute, Binh Duong's defense was lax, creating an opportunity for Pham Xuan Manh to cross the ball into the box. However, Van Quyet's shot went over the crossbar.
Towards the end of the first half, the visiting team boldly pushed forward to put pressure on Hanoi FC, but both Nguyen Tien Linh and Nguyen Tran Viet Cuong's shots lacked the necessary power to beat goalkeeper Quan Van Chuan.
Unlike their defensive tactics in the first half, Binh Duong FC played offensively in the second half, hoping to break their losing streak at Hang Day Stadium. In the 47th minute, Tien Linh controlled the ball with his chest and then passed it back to Viet Cuong, who unleashed a long-range shot, forcing Van Chuan to make a safe save.
Ten minutes later, Hanoi FC responded with a move where young player Nguyen Van Truong dribbled past four Binh Duong players. After a few passes, the ball reached Van Quyet. The 33-year-old midfielder dribbled across the field and took a shot, but goalkeeper Minh Toan made a spectacular save.
Van Truong (in purple shirt) played his role well in midfield.
The back-and-forth battle between the two teams was exciting until the very last minutes. Starting in place of Nguyen Van Hoang, goalkeeper Van Chuan played steadily and flawlessly. The Hanoi goalkeeper made an excellent save in the 85th minute, helping his team successfully defend their one-goal lead against Binh Duong.
With a 1-0 victory, Hanoi FC ended their four-match draw streak to temporarily move up to third place with 13 points after eight matches. Meanwhile, with their third consecutive defeat at Hang Day Stadium, Binh Duong FC is in seventh place with 11 points. It is highly likely that Coach Hoang Anh Tuan's team will drop down the rankings this round as the teams below them will be playing in the next two days.
