
The conference listened to representatives of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front present their plans for the structure, composition, and number of political organizations, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, social organizations, and socio-professional organizations of state agencies and units of the People's Armed Forces at the central level to be nominated as candidates for the 16th National Assembly; and at the same time, discuss and reach agreement on the structure, composition, and number of delegates of central agencies, organizations, and units to be nominated as candidates for the 16th National Assembly.
Affirming the important role of the Fatherland Front at all levels

From the opinions of delegates attending the Conference, on behalf of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly , Member of the National Election Council, clarified the contents related to the structure, composition, and number of people of central agencies, organizations, and units nominated to run for the 16th National Assembly.
Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh stated: Selecting and electing exemplary delegates, representing the will, aspirations and intelligence of the people to participate in the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels is a key task of the entire Party, people and army in 2026.
The Politburo issued Directive No. 45-CT/TW dated April 14, 2025 on Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress and Directive No. 46-CT/TW dated May 16, 2025 on leading the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and election of deputies to People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
On that basis, at the 9th Session, the 15th National Assembly elected the National Election Council. The National Election Council established sub-committees; held 3 meetings and conducted working sessions with the Standing Committee and the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to issue relevant documents. Up to this point, documents as well as records and forms for the election of National Assembly and People's Council deputies have been completed; recommendations and proposals of agencies and organizations have also been thoroughly considered by the National Election Council.

According to Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh, the Politburo and the National Assembly have decided on the election date as March 15, 2026 (January 27, Binh Ngo). Thus, the time for the second and third rounds of consultations, as well as the organization of related conferences, will be right on the occasion of the Lunar New Year. The procedures and processes for consultation and collecting voters' opinions at work and residence will be carried out according to the established regulations, so the role of the Front from the Central to the local level is very important, ensuring that the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and the election of deputies to the People's Council for the 2026-2031 term is truly a political event for the whole country and the nation, and also a great festival for all people.
Receiving the profound comments from the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh said she would report to the National Assembly Standing Committee. For matters under the authority of higher levels, the National Assembly Standing Committee will report and submit to competent authorities for consideration.
Basically agree on structure, composition and number of delegates

In her closing speech, Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vice Chairwoman of the National Election Council, Head of the Election Steering Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front affirmed: With the spirit of democracy, objectivity, frankness, construction, and high responsibility, the members of the Presidium and leaders of member organizations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front discussed to reach an agreement, basically agreeing on the structure, composition, and number of Central delegates to be nominated as candidates for the 16th National Assembly according to the plan of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the Submission of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
Regarding the number of delegates: The conference agreed on the expected total number of delegates nominated as candidates for the 16th National Assembly by central agencies, organizations and units to be 217 delegates.

Basically, the conference agreed on the proposed structure and composition as per Resolution No. 1897/NQ-UBTVQH15 of the National Assembly Standing Committee; agreed on the proposed number of people from political organizations, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, social organizations, socio-professional organizations, the People's Armed Forces, and central state agencies to be nominated as candidates for the 16th National Assembly.
Immediately after the Conference, the Presidium and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front will complete and issue documents including the Minutes of the First Consultation Conference; announcement of election work after the First Consultation Conference; report on the results of the First Consultation to the National Election Council and relevant agencies according to regulations - President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai said.
