Mr. Tran Phuoc Tai, owner of the Mr. Tai basket boat service business, said that after the COVID-19 pandemic, from around the end of 2022 until now, tourists have started returning to visit and experience basket boat rides at Bay Mau Coconut Forest.

To date, visitor numbers have recovered to about 80% of their peak in 2019, when Hoi An welcomed a record number of tourists. Currently, in addition to domestic tourists, the Bay Mau Coconut Forest is attracting visitors from Asia such as Thailand, South Korea, and Taiwan - China…

"My establishment has 100 basket boats with 100 permanent employees. Previously, we welcomed nearly 1,000 customers per day, but now we serve about 800 customers daily," said Mr. Tai.

Mr. Tài believes that the Seven-Acre Coconut Forest has somewhat solved the problem of providing entertainment options for tourists visiting Hoi An. Previously, tourists visiting Hoi An were limited to the Old Town, Tra Que vegetable village, and Thanh Ha pottery village. However, in recent years, tourists can now enjoy the attractive service of riding in basket boats to explore the waterways.

The Cam Thanh mangrove forest, formerly covering about 7 acres, was known as the Seven-Acre Mangrove Forest. It serves as a buffer zone for the Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An World Biosphere Reserve and possesses exceptional cultural, historical, and natural resource value.

"What tourists appreciate most is the enthusiastic and friendly service of the local people, who are honest, down-to-earth, and always have a smile on their faces, making tourists feel safe and happy," Mr. Tai informed.

According to a report by the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, the total number of tourists visiting and staying in the province in February 2024 is estimated at 580,000, an increase of 35% compared to the same period last year. Of these, international tourists are estimated at 270,000, an increase of 42%; and domestic tourists at 310,000, an increase of 29%. Revenue from tourism in February 2024 is estimated at 550 billion VND, an increase of 17% compared to the same period last year. Social income from tourism is estimated at 1,293 billion VND.
