Thai Nguyen Provincial Trade Union: Standing together to overcome challenges and build progressive labor relations.

Thai Nguyen province has over 190,000 workers, of which more than 144,000 are union members operating in 487 grassroots trade unions. Faced with high work intensity and the pressures of workers' lives, the provincial trade union has implemented a direct approach, prioritizing close contact with the grassroots, focusing on dialogue, and using collective bargaining as the foundation for regulating labor relations. This approach helps to promptly identify and resolve issues related to meal allowances, wages, working conditions, welfare, and the spiritual well-being of workers.

The results of the past term demonstrate the representative role of the Provincial Trade Union in political , social, and business aspects. Throughout the province, 905 dialogues were held at the grassroots level; 3 direct dialogues were held between the Provincial Party Secretary, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and workers; 502 labor law inspections were conducted; 78 inspections of enterprises regarding occupational safety and hygiene were carried out; and 40 labor accidents were investigated.

These activities contribute to preventing disputes, reducing the risk of work stoppages, and creating an effective policy feedback channel, ensuring worker morale stability in the spirit of "harmonious resolution, protection of rights, and maintenance of production".

Collective bargaining continues to make progress, with over 82% of businesses with labor unions signing collective bargaining agreements. These agreements have become binding welfare standards, helping to regulate wages, working hours, allowances, and many other social welfare benefits on a legal basis.

Welfare activities have shifted from individual support to sustainable benefits. The provincial trade union mobilized over 250 billion VND for welfare work; 131 billion VND in support for Tet (Lunar New Year) for over 378,000 union members; 504 "Trade Union Meal" programs for workers; 102 "Trade Union Shelter" programs to support disadvantaged worker families; and 68 welfare programs in cooperation with businesses, helping to reduce living expenses by 10-50%.

In addition, cultural and sports activities, worker living spaces, mobile legal counseling, and the "Workers' Month" program contribute to reducing work stress and building a safe and humane working environment.

The emulation movements are maintained in a direction linked to productivity, quality, and technical innovation. The "Excellent Worker - Creative Worker" movement has recorded more than 17,800 initiatives that have been applied, bringing in trillions of dong in benefits.

These results affirm the role of the Provincial Trade Union in creating a stable working environment, improving the quality of human resources, and contributing to economic growth. This partnership not only addresses immediate welfare issues but also aims to build a modern, disciplined, knowledgeable workforce that is adaptable to the demands of digital transformation, automation, and international competitiveness.

Entering the 2025-2030 term, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Trade Union has identified the following priorities: continuing to improve the quality of regular dialogues; standardizing collective labor agreements; monitoring the implementation of commitments, focusing on key issues such as wages, meal allowances, rest periods, social insurance, occupational safety and health, and worker welfare.

In addition, the Trade Union promotes the development of long-term welfare, integrating cultural institutions, worker housing, and essential services right within the industrial park; strengthens the monitoring of labor laws; raises occupational safety and hygiene standards, reduces the risk of occupational diseases, and builds a safety culture in enterprises.

Training focuses on equipping union officials with legal, negotiation, communication, and digital transformation skills, enabling them to effectively represent and handle situations in a modern production environment.

At the same time, the Trade Union strengthens the connection between businesses, the government, and trade union organizations to create a progressive working environment that respects and places workers at the center.
