Marvell Company explores the environment and opportunities for cooperation and investment in semiconductor chips in Da Nang

DNO - On January 15th, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Ho Ky Minh, received and worked with a delegation from Marvell Company (USA) to explore the environment and opportunities for cooperation and investment in the field of semiconductor integrated circuit design.

According to Ho Ky Minh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, Da Nang has identified semiconductor chips as a breakthrough growth driver for the city in the coming period.

Currently, the city is making efforts to prepare the necessary conditions to attract semiconductor businesses to choose Da Nang as a location for expanding investment and business in Vietnam; in particular, the city will coordinate the organization of training courses for human resources in this field.

City leaders expressed their desire for Marvell Company to clearly define the requirements for its workforce so that the city can guide appropriate training programs.

Regarding discussions on infrastructure, support policies, taxes, visas, etc., the Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Ho Ky Minh, stated that he will instruct relevant agencies to proactively research central government policies to apply them in supporting businesses and workers investing in the city.

During the meeting, representatives from the University of Da Nang and various departments and agencies shared their plans for student recruitment and training in specialized semiconductor chip technology, highlighting advantages in technological infrastructure, human resources, and incentives to capitalize on future investment trends in this field.

Recently, the city organized workshops and provided guidance on solutions for developing human resources to serve the semiconductor industry in Da Nang.

The city participated in the President 's working delegation to promote investment with companies and corporations such as Synopsys, Intel, Nvidia, Marvell, ITSJ-G, and Qorvo in San Jose (USA) regarding training in the development of microchips and artificial intelligence; and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Da Nang City People's Committee and Synopsys in the field of semiconductor microchip industry.

Currently, the city is focusing on researching and developing several mechanisms and policies to promote the development of human resources in the microchip and semiconductor industries. This includes focusing on three target groups: lecturers, graduated engineers (including those in related fields), and students currently undergoing training... with the aim of creating a skilled workforce whose output meets the international standards of large enterprises.

The People's Committee of Da Nang City has adopted a policy to develop a project "Development of semiconductor chips and integrated circuits in Da Nang City"; established two teams to implement the project "Development of semiconductor chips and integrated circuits in Da Nang City"; and established the Da Nang Center for Research, Training in Integrated Circuit Design and Artificial Intelligence.

Mr. Loi Nguyen, Global Executive Vice President of Marvell (USA), stated that Marvell is very interested in the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam in general and highly appreciates the potential for development of the semiconductor industry in Da Nang in particular.

As one of the leading companies, ranking among the top 25 globally in semiconductor chip design and data infrastructure provision, Marvell began operating in Vietnam in 2013.

Marvell Vietnam currently has two offices in Ho Chi Minh City with approximately 300 employees and plans to expand to 500 employees in the near future. The company is interested in the city's policies to expedite investment promotion.

On this occasion, the Marvell Company delegation conducted a field survey of the High-Tech Park and other information technology zones in the city.
