Marvell Company explores the environment and opportunities for cooperation and investment in semiconductor chips in Da Nang

DNO - On January 15, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh received and worked with a delegation from Marvell Company (USA) who came to learn about the environment and opportunities for cooperation and investment in the field of semiconductor chip design.

Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh said that Da Nang identified semiconductor chips as the city's breakthrough growth driver in the coming time.

Currently, the city is making efforts to prepare the necessary conditions to attract semiconductor enterprises to choose Da Nang as a location to expand their investment and business in Vietnam; in which, the city will coordinate to organize human resource training courses in this field.

City leaders expressed their hope that Marvell Company would clearly identify the input of human resources so that the city could orient training appropriately.

Discussing infrastructure, support policies, taxes, visas, etc., Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh said he will assign functional agencies to proactively study central policies to apply to support businesses as well as workers when investing in the city.

At the meeting, representatives of the University of Danang, departments, and branches also shared about enrollment and training plans for specialized fields in semiconductor microchips, advantages in technology infrastructure, human resources, incentives, etc. to anticipate investment trends in this field in the coming time.

Recently, the city has organized seminars and oriented solutions for human resource development to serve the semiconductor industry in Da Nang city.

The city participated in the President 's working delegation to promote investment with companies and corporations: Synopsys, Intel, Nvidia, Marvell, ITSJ-G, Qorvo in San Jose (USA) on training in microchip development and artificial intelligence; signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the People's Committee of Da Nang City and Synopsys Company in the field of semiconductor microchip industry.

Currently, the city is focusing on implementing research to build a number of mechanisms and policies to promote the development of microchip and semiconductor human resources in the area, focusing on 3 groups: lecturers, graduated engineers (including related majors), students in training... to create skilled human resources with output that meets the international standards of large enterprises.

The City People's Committee has a policy to build a project "Developing semiconductor chips and microchips in Da Nang city"; establish two teams to implement the project "Developing semiconductor chips and microchips in Da Nang city"; establish the Da Nang Center for Research, Training in Microchip Design and Artificial Intelligence.

Mr. Loi Nguyen, Vice President of Global Operations of Marvell Company (USA), said that Marvell is very interested in the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam in general and highly appreciates the potential for semiconductor industry development in Da Nang in particular.

As one of the leading companies, ranked in the world's top 25 in semiconductor design and data infrastructure provision, Marvell started operating in Vietnam in 2013.

Marvell Vietnam currently has two offices in Ho Chi Minh City with approximately 300 employees and will continue to expand to 500 employees in the coming time. The company is interested in the city's policies to soon implement investment promotion.

On this occasion, the delegation of Marvell Company surveyed the High-Tech Park and information technology parks in the city.
