On the afternoon of June 22nd, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong cordially received Lieutenant General Álvaro López Miera, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba, on the occasion of his visit and working trip to Vietnam.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong welcomed and highly appreciated the significance of the visit to Vietnam by Lieutenant General Álvaro López Miera in the context of the two countries looking forward to the 50th anniversary of Leader Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated zone in Quang Tri ; expressing confidence that the visit will contribute to consolidating and further deepening the special traditional friendship between the two Parties, the two countries, and the two armies.
Recalling the profound impressions and memories from his most recent visit to Cuba, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed the unwavering solidarity of the Party, State, and people of Vietnam with the just cause of the Party, State, and people of Cuba.
The General Secretary affirmed that the immortal words of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, "For Vietnam, Cuba is ready to shed even its own blood," will forever remain in the memory and thoughts of the Vietnamese people.
Congratulating the Cuban Party, State, and people on the significant achievements they have made in recent times, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong shared the difficulties and challenges that Cuba is facing and expressed confidence that the Cuban people will overcome these difficulties and challenges; showing admiration for the revolutionary will, spirit, and resilience of the Cuban people.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed that Vietnam will do its utmost, within its capabilities and resources, to help Cuba in the spirit of "For Cuba, Vietnam will make the highest possible effort to help Cuba overcome temporary and immediate difficulties and challenges."
The General Secretary highly appreciated the important role and results of defense cooperation between the two countries; and proposed that both sides strengthen practical and effective cooperation, in line with the interests of each country, for peace and development in the region and the world.
On this occasion, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong extended warm greetings to Comrade Raul Castro Ruz, Comrade Miguel Díaz-Canel, and other Cuban leaders, and expressed his hope to welcome the leaders of the Cuban Party and State back to Vietnam.

General Álvaro López Miera respectfully conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of Comrade Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba, and other Cuban leaders to General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng.
The Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba expressed his pleasure at visiting Vietnam again, witnessing the great achievements and important results that Vietnam has achieved in recent years, especially the successful control of the Covid-19 pandemic, the effective implementation of important socio-economic development programs, ensuring social security, and enhancing the potential, position, and international prestige of Vietnam. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people will continue to achieve many great and historically significant achievements, successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party.
Comrade Álvaro López Miera provided information on the situation in Cuba, on the Cuban people's support for the Party and the Revolution, as demonstrated by the results of the elections for People's Councils at all levels, the National Assembly, State leaders, and local governments.
He shared about the efforts of the Party, State, people, and revolutionary armed forces of Cuba in implementing the Resolution of the Eighth Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba, and about the efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges caused by the blockade, embargo, and recent incidents and natural disasters.
Expressing gratitude for the sincere and loyal cooperation and assistance of the Party, State, people, and army of Vietnam, as well as Vietnam's support in opposing the embargo against Cuba, General Álvaro López Miera emphasized that the Party, State, and People's Army of Cuba highly value, strengthen, and preserve the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba, which was built by President Ho Chi Minh and leaders Fidel Castro and Raul Castro, and which has been cherished and diligently nurtured by generations of leaders of the Party, State, people, and armies of both countries.
The Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba reported to the General Secretary on the results of cooperation between the two countries' armies in the past period, affirming that he will closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense to effectively implement the contents of bilateral cooperation, contributing to strengthening and consolidating the special friendship between the two Parties, two States, peoples and armies of the two countries.
