Towards the end of the year, vehicle inspection centers become crowded again.

In the last month of 2024, vehicle inspection centers were no longer quiet and sparsely populated with vehicles undergoing inspections like in previous months. The demand for vehicle inspections from the public is gradually increasing again.

On December 10th, reporters from Giao Thong Newspaper observed at several vehicle inspection centers nationwide that the demand for vehicle inspections had increased again compared to previous months, particularly during the first two hours of each morning and afternoon.

The demand for vehicle inspections increased again in the last month of 2024, with many car owners having to wait when bringing their vehicles in for inspection.

At 9 am, Ms. Pham Thi Mai brought her car to the 2903S Vehicle Inspection Center (My Dinh, Hanoi ) and had to wait behind about 15 other cars in line. It was about an hour later before it was her turn for inspection.

Ms. Mai said that her car's inspection deadline was still a week away, but according to custom, car inspections are usually crowded at the end of the year, so she proactively took her car for inspection to avoid a long wait. "I went late today, so I had to wait an hour, which is still quite manageable compared to the situation in 2022-2023," Ms. Mai said.

The head of the 2908D Vehicle Inspection Center (Hoai Duc, Hanoi) also stated that the demand for vehicle inspections has started to heat up again in the last month of 2024. Therefore, in recent days, many people bringing their vehicles for inspection have had to wait their turn, unlike last month when vehicles could immediately enter the inspection line.

"However, compared to the same period last year, the demand for vehicle inspections has decreased. In December 2024, the inspection unit inspected an average of 120-130 vehicles per day, while in the same period last year, the minimum number inspected per day was 150 vehicles," said the leader of the 2908D Vehicle Inspection Center.

In Phu Tho , the head of the 1908D Vehicle Inspection Center also stated that the demand for vehicle inspections at their unit increased by 10-12% in the last month of the year, with an average of 65-80 vehicles inspected per day.

In Hung Yen , because the two vehicle inspection centers in the area are still closed, the number of vehicles flocking to the 8905D Vehicle Inspection Center has also increased significantly, with the center inspecting an average of 75-80 vehicles per day.

According to vehicle inspection centers, the number of vehicles undergoing inspection will increase in the last month of the year, but it will not be a sudden surge or cause overload.

Vehicle inspection demand is increasing but not overwhelming.

According to the head of the 8905D Vehicle Inspection Center (Hung Yen), in the last month of 2024, the demand for vehicle inspections increased but not dramatically, and the unit still had sufficient capacity to serve the demand.

As one of the vehicle inspection centers with the highest number of vehicles undergoing inspection in the Hanoi area, the number of vehicles arriving at the 2903V Vehicle Inspection Center (Cau Giay, Hanoi) has increased significantly since the beginning of December 2024 compared to the previous month.

According to Mr. Tran Quoc Hoan, Deputy Director in charge of Vehicle Inspection Center 2903V, on average, the unit inspects 140-150 vehicles per day, with a particularly high number of inspections on December 9th (the first day of the week), reaching 167 vehicles.

However, this output only reaches 80% of the unit's inspection capacity. In particular, the majority of vehicles are concentrated at the beginning of the morning and afternoon shifts, and vehicles arriving for inspection have to queue to wait for their turn.

"Although there's a wait, it's not too long, a maximum of about an hour, because customers tend to get their vehicles inspected in the early morning/afternoon. From 3 PM to 4 PM onwards, the number of vehicles coming for inspection decreases," Mr. Hoan said.

According to Mr. Hoan, although the demand for vehicle inspections has increased again, it will remain at the current level from now until the end of the year and is unlikely to increase further.

Even by the second half of January 2025, close to the Lunar New Year 2025, the demand for vehicle inspection will gradually decrease, and there will be no recurrence of inspection congestion.

Leaders of vehicle inspection centers further advise that, to avoid wasting time or even having to re-inspect, vehicle owners should proactively check, maintain, and repair their vehicles before inspection. Particular attention should be paid to parts such as: lights (all lights must be present and working, and replacement lights must comply with regulations); brakes, tires; and avoiding modifications that alter the overall dimensions or exterior size of the vehicle.
