Can Tho City veterans compete to celebrate holidays and anniversaries

Since the beginning of 2025, the Veterans Association of Can Tho City at all levels has carried out many projects and tasks to welcome the Party Congresses at all levels and holidays and anniversaries. Through many activities, projects and tasks, the Association at all levels has demonstrated patriotism and heroic traditions, while contributing to the socio-economic development and maintaining security and defense of the city.

In celebration of the 1st Congress of the Thoi Long Ward Party Committee, term 2025-2030, the Ward Veterans Association has just implemented the model "Lighting up the countryside roads" in the Long Dinh area, with a total cost of 54 million VND. On this occasion, the Ward Veterans Association coordinated with the People's Committee of Thoi Hoa C area to mobilize people to upgrade a 200m long road, worth 415 million VND.

In the first 7 months of 2025, the Ward Veterans Association coordinated with the areas to carry out many projects and tasks to celebrate holidays, anniversaries and party congresses at all levels, such as: clearing bushes, planting flowers on a 2.4km road in Thoi Xuong 2 area; mobilizing people to donate 750m2 of land to expand the road in Thoi Xuong 1 area, 2.5km long.

Mr. Le Hoang Tho, Chairman of the Ward Veterans Association, said: “Through propaganda work, cadres and members actively contribute to building houses of solidarity and participation in activities to honor families of war invalids and martyrs. At the same time, the Ward Veterans Association organizes many activities to educate the tradition for union members, youth and students.”

Since the beginning of the year, the Veterans Association of Can Tho City at all levels has carried out over 250 projects and tasks. In particular, the grassroots associations focused on supporting members in building houses; mobilizing the construction and upgrading of roads; installing lighting, planting trees, and planting flowers on the roads... The total value of the projects and tasks is over 6 billion VND.

Particularly in July 2025, the Veterans Associations of communes and wards organized many activities to honor the families of war invalids and martyrs; organized meals for comrades, and cared for memorial steles and martyrs' temples. The Associations at all levels coordinated with units to propagate and educate the traditions of the homeland, the Vietnam People's Army, the armed forces of Military Region 9 and the city's armed forces.

According to Mr. Tran Hai Vinh, Deputy Head of the Veterans Affairs Department, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, the Standing Committee of the City Veterans Association directed the grassroots Associations to coordinate with Party committees, authorities, and organizations to propagate and implement revolutionary campaigns and movements in the locality, such as: "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas", "Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods"; "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Can Tho City in 2025"...

The City Veterans Association also launched online contests "Proud of Vietnam", "Learning about the tradition of 80 years of the founding of the Can Tho Armed Forces (July 30, 1945 - July 30, 2025)"; a political contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation, etc.

In the coming time, the Can Tho City Veterans Association will continue to direct units to carry out projects and tasks to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) in conjunction with local socio -economic development programs and plans; actively coordinate and effectively participate in national target programs, campaigns and movements launched by the Central, the city and localities in all fields.

The city's Veterans Associations at all levels will also focus on directing the completion of skillful mass mobilization models, projects and tasks registered since the beginning of 2025; continue to promote the patriotic emulation movement "Exemplary Veterans", making achievements to welcome the 6th Can Tho City Patriotic Emulation Congress, towards the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress; at the same time, direct and coordinate with local Party committees to soon complete and stabilize the Veterans Associations at all levels; successfully organize the congresses of the Association of War Veterans at communes, wards and cities for the 2025-2030 term.
