On September 27, according to documents from Canada's Committee on Foreign Intervention, a former Canadian politician was suspected of attempting to influence the work of Parliament on behalf of a foreign government.

Canadian authorities have not yet released clear information regarding the identity and political affiliation of this MP, nor the name of the country with which he is accused of collaborating. However, this is an unprecedented case involving direct foreign interference in Canadian democracy.
The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), in collaboration with other security and intelligence agencies, has compiled a list of six notable cases suspected of involving foreign interference in recent years.
Four cases were detailed in a previous hearing by Judge Marie-Josee Hogue concerning foreign influence operations on the 2019 and 2021 elections.
The other two cases that have never been publicized are the case of the aforementioned MP and the case of a country attempting to prevent the election of a Liberal Party MP.
It is suspected that this foreign government sought to prevent the Liberal Party candidate from being elected to the federal Parliament because of its support for issues deemed contrary to the interests of that foreign government.
Reportedly, China is considered the most active country in interfering in Canadian affairs, followed by India. Additionally, the conflict in the Middle East could also lead to Iran interfering in the next election.
