On the morning of October 18, the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) held a conference to announce the establishment of two networks of excellent training centers and talents in 4.0 technology, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductor technology.
The event marks an important first step in forming a cooperative ecosystem on training, research and innovation between universities, research institutes and technology enterprises in the Southern region.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology leads two national strategic networks
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Pham Quang Hung, Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Information ( Ministry of Education and Training ), said that forming excellent and talented training networks is a breakthrough solution to develop the country's knowledge and technology centers.
Implementing the Government's direction, the Ministry of Education and Training has announced 13 higher education institutions leading excellent training networks and talents in the field of Industry 4.0 technology.
In which, the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) is the unit assigned to lead two networks in the strategic technology group - AI and semiconductors.
"Two excellent training networks and talents in AI and semiconductors belong to the group of 11 national strategic technologies, playing a particularly important role in training, researching and developing high-quality human resources, contributing to the implementation of Resolutions 57 and 71 of the Politburo on science and technology development, innovation and education.
This is both an honor and a great responsibility of the school in contributing to training human resources for the country's key technology industries," Mr. Hung emphasized.

Elevating Vietnam's position on the global technology map
According to Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong - Rector of the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University), this event is an important milestone marking the birth and announcement of the Executive Board of each network, opening a new development stage towards extensive and sustainable cooperation.
In the coming time, under the direction of the Executive Board, the networks will continue to recruit new members and implement specific action plans, aiming to build and develop two networks worthy of the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Training, of the members and of society.
AI and semiconductors are two key technology directions in the science and technology development strategy of technical universities in general and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in particular.
The school identifies these as strategic areas that need strong investment to create breakthroughs in research, training and technology transfer, contributing to providing high-quality human resources for the country in the new period.
"The formation of these two networks demonstrates the commitment of member universities and technology enterprises to accompany the Government in building an ecosystem of cooperation - training - research - innovation, aiming to raise the position of the Southern region and Vietnam on the global technology map," said Mr. Phong.
Launch pad for AI training and research, laying the foundation for strategic industry
The Network of Training Centers of Excellence and Talent in Industry 4.0, AI field, chaired by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, aims to train elite human resources, promote pioneering research and transfer AI technology to serve the national digital transformation process.
Accordingly, the network focuses on developing adaptive and specialized training programs, co-teaching and sharing learning materials, recognizing transfer credits, supporting learners, building common laboratories, and jointly implementing consulting programs and transferring AI solutions to businesses and society.
The network also focuses on attracting domestic and foreign experts and scientists, creating a transparent, creative and sustainable cooperative environment, aiming to become an excellent AI training and research center in the Southern region.
At the same time, the Network of Training Centers of Excellence and Talents in Industry 4.0 and the semiconductor field was established to connect training facilities, research institutes and semiconductor technology enterprises, aiming at the goal of developing a supply chain of high-quality human resources to meet the explosive needs of the Vietnamese semiconductor industry.
Under the leadership of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, the network focuses on building advanced training, retraining and specialized training programs for semiconductor engineers and experts; developing research infrastructure, laboratories and shared design-test platforms; and promoting research and development (R&D), innovation and international cooperation.
Currently, the AI network has 27 members, including 20 universities and 7 leading technology companies. With 34 members including 18 universities and 16 companies, the semiconductor network is expected to become a key hub in the Southern region, contributing to the goal of bringing Vietnam up in the global value chain of the semiconductor industry.
