Embassy in Thailand accompanies the Vietnamese Sports Delegation to participate in the 33rd SEA Games

On December 9, Comrade Nguyen Van Hung, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Chairman of the Vietnam Olympic Committee visited and worked at the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand on the occasion of his trip to Thailand to attend the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games.

Attending the meeting were representatives of the Vietnam Sports Delegation, officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand and Vietnamese agencies next to the Embassy.

Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung expressed his honor to welcome the Minister and the delegation to visit the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand; informed about the activities of the Embassy and Vietnamese agencies next to the Embassy, ​​and the activities of overseas Vietnamese in Thailand.

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung also informed Minister Nguyen Van Hung about the situation in Thailand and the Vietnam-Thailand relationship; stating that, in addition to friendly cooperation activities, economic cooperation activities, cultural exchange, and people-to-people exchange should be focused on.

The Ambassador emphasized that in 2026, the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations; said that the Embassy has consulted with ministries and branches to have directions for organizing commemorative activities next year and hopes that the Minister and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will help support activities and events in Thailand and in Vietnam if they organize.

At the meeting, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung thanked the Embassy for the warm welcome to the delegation, informed about the activities of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation participating in the 33rd SEA Games; emphasized that Ambassador Pham Viet Hung and representatives of Vietnamese agencies beside the Embassy met with the athletes before the opening ceremony to encourage and boost the athletes' spirit when they arrived in Thailand.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung shared his joy with the efforts, endeavors and achievements of the Embassy and Vietnamese agencies working alongside the Embassy in recent times; saying that these activities have contributed significantly to raising the Vietnam-Thailand relationship to a new height.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung affirmed that the Party and State always consider diplomatic activities with other countries to be very important for peace, development and mutual benefit; emphasizing that in cultural cooperation, people-to-people exchange is an important bridge to maintain sustainable cooperative relations; said that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has been assigned many important responsibilities by the Party and State and in the near future, the Ministry will conduct many cultural activities in a number of countries, including Thailand, to preserve, promote the value and spread Vietnamese culture, as well as the beauty of the people and country of Vietnam to international friends.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung said that Thailand is a country with many Vietnamese expatriates living and is also a country close to Vietnam, so promoting activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, as well as organizing activities to introduce the beauty of Vietnamese life and culture to the overseas Vietnamese community and Thai friends will be very favorable.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung supported and said that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will give priority to coordinating with the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand in common foreign affairs activities. In the immediate future, it is possible to organize the Vietnam Cultural Day in Thailand or support Thailand to organize the Thai Cultural Day in Vietnam or take it to a higher level, organize the Cultural, Sports and Tourism Festival, moving towards connecting destinations and promoting tourism.

During the time the Vietnamese Sports Delegation attended the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand deployed many practical support measures to ensure the most favorable conditions for athletes, coaches and professional staff.

Under the direction of Ambassador Pham Viet Hung, the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand organized to welcome the athletes at the airport; coordinated with Thai authorities to facilitate the delegation to quickly complete entry procedures and move to their accommodation. At the same time, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand maintained a direct contact with the 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee to update information, promptly respond and handle technical and logistical requirements arising related to the Vietnamese delegation.

In addition, the Embassy supports the arrangement of transportation for athletes when necessary; works with suppliers to order food according to the nutritional requirements of each team, ensuring compliance with training and competition conditions.

Welcoming the Vietnamese Sports Delegation to attend the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, the Vietnamese Embassy and Vietnamese representative agencies in Thailand have made preparations to provide the highest level of support before, during and after the 33rd SEA Games.

Previously, on the morning of December 9, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung attended a meeting, visited and encouraged the Vietnamese Sports Delegation to compete at the 33rd SEA Games. In attendance were Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung and many Vietnamese reporters.

In an interview with the press after the meeting, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung was delighted to welcome the Sports Delegation to the 33rd SEA Games; affirmed that the Embassy always accompanies the Sports Delegation for the highest achievements, for the flag and colors; always supports the delegation to compete in the best conditions; said that, in the conditions of competing far from Vietnam, ensuring eating and sleeping conditions is the most important to ensure that athletes have the spirit and health to compete and achieve high results. Ambassador Pham Viet Hung said that he has coordinated and supported the delegation to ensure nutritious meals, suitable to the athletes' taste.
