The Red Cross honors humanitarian spirit and spreads kindness.

The Congress aims to comprehensively summarize and evaluate the patriotic emulation movement, honor outstanding examples during the 2020-2025 period; and propose directions, tasks, and solutions for the emulation movement in the 2025-2030 period.

Honoring the spirit of humanity

Taking humanitarian action as the focus, over the past 5 years, the Vietnam Red Cross Society has strongly spread the spirit of emulation in doing good deeds. The event took place on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (November 23, 1946 - November 23, 2025) and the implementation of the "Humanitarian Power 2025" Program. The Congress became a "big festival", honoring the humanitarian spirit.

Through this Congress, the Red Cross Society continues to inspire and spread the spirit of "competing in doing good deeds," becoming a driving force to promote the widespread and sustainable development of humanitarian movements, contributing to building a compassionate society where no one is left behind.

The Congress was attended by representatives of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, ministries, departments, diplomatic agencies, international organizations, and organizations within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement; along with 270 outstanding individuals representing Red Cross branches and businesses nationwide who were awarded and honored.

The report shows that, over the past five years, the patriotic emulation movement of the Vietnam Red Cross Society has continued to affirm itself as a special mass movement: Emulation for humanitarian work, emulation for the poor and vulnerable.

The Association has mobilized and assisted more than 102 million people, with a total value of over VND 29,186 billion, an increase of 45% compared to the previous period, actively contributing to the implementation of social security goals, caring for the disadvantaged, and supporting sustainable poverty reduction in the country.

The Association at all levels has implemented many models close to the people and their needs, such as: "Pot of love porridge", "Red Cross kitchen", "Red Cross rice jar", "House helping house", models of capital support for livestock farming, economic development..., with a total value of 21,676 billion VND, supporting 56 million people (an increase of 44% compared to the previous period).

In the field of health care, the whole Association has mobilized 3,165 billion VND, supporting 40 million people through a system of 698 humanitarian clinics and treatment centers. Along with that, nearly 100,000 people have been trained in first aid and more than 2 million people have been informed and instructed on first aid knowledge and injury prevention.

Disaster prevention and response activities have made great strides, with a total support value of VND2,147 billion, assisting 5.6 million people, 2.45 times higher than the previous period. Many practical interventions have been promoted such as cash support, livelihoods, clean water, safe housing, safe schools, early warning and action systems.

Honoring typical businesses that have made many outstanding contributions to the patriotic emulation movement of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, period 2020-2025

Resource mobilization and international cooperation reached over VND1,359 billion, an increase of 153% compared to the previous period. Of which, aid funding received was VND617.3 billion from 61 programs and projects, contributing to expanding humanitarian foreign relations and strengthening the position of the Vietnam Red Cross Society in the international arena.

Major movements and campaigns continue to affirm the Association's core role in humanitarian work. The "Humanitarian Tet" movement has mobilized more than 12.9 million gifts with a total value of over 6,000 billion VND. The campaign "Each organization, each individual is associated with a humanitarian address" has established nearly 9,000 profiles, providing sustainable assistance to more than 7,000 addresses with a value of over 1,900 billion VND.

The "Humanitarian Month" for the period 2021-2025 helped over 6.5 million people, with a total value of 3,646 billion VND, becoming the peak month for the whole population to do good deeds. The voluntary blood donation and organ and tissue donation movement continued to achieve outstanding results, with nearly 7.5 million units of blood received (blood donation rate reached about 1.75% of the population), 14,873 people registered to donate tissues and organs, of which 838 were successful organ transplants.

Many key programs and special campaigns have left a deep impression on society, such as Covid-19 prevention activities with a total value of 1,624 billion VND. The program "Safety for poor and disadvantaged fishermen" reached 133.7 billion VND, supporting more than 119,000 people, building and repairing 1,077 houses in 291 communes in 23 coastal provinces and cities. The program "Nutrition for poor and disabled children" with resources of 487 billion VND, supporting about 3.5 million children and building 119 boarding kitchens with a total value of nearly 30 billion VND.

The Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society awarded Certificates of Merit to 209 individuals for their outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, 2020-2025.

Attending the Congress, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Trinh Van Quyet acknowledged and commended the spirit of dedication, creativity and devotion of all cadres, members and volunteers; at the same time, warmly congratulated the great and comprehensive results that the patriotic emulation movement of the Vietnam Red Cross Society has achieved in the period of 2020-2025.

"These results are not only achievements but also reflect the dignity of a compassionate nation, the people's trust in the Party's leadership; and at the same time affirm that the Vietnam Red Cross Society deserves to be the core organization, the bridge, and the coordinator in the country's humanitarian activities," assessed Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department.

Over the past 79 years, the Vietnam Red Cross has always been present in the most difficult places, bringing the flame of humanity to those in need. According to Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Trinh Van Quyet, with its core role as a bridge, coordinator, gatherer and spreader of humanity, the Red Cross has contributed to strengthening the great national unity bloc.

“The movements and campaigns of the Red Cross Society in recent years have truly become a bright spot of humanity in social life, vividly demonstrating the spirit of 'Emulation is patriotism - Humanity is the source of love',” affirmed Central Party Secretary, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Trinh Van Quyet.

Trinh Van Quyet, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, directed the Vietnam Red Cross Society to continue to thoroughly understand Ho Chi Minh's ideology on patriotic emulation and on the compassionate nature of Vietnamese people through concrete and practical actions.

“Strongly promote the Program 'Humanitarian Strength' and 'Humanitarian Month' throughout the Association and the entire population, considering this an important factor in the Association's patriotic emulation movement, contributing to building 'patriotic - compassionate - responsible - creative - integrated Vietnamese people', thereby consolidating the spiritual strength and national culture in the new period, creating a fair, civilized and humane society", Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Trinh Van Quyet emphasized.

Receiving the direction of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Ms. Do Thi Thu Thao, President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, said that entering the 2025-2030 period, the Vietnam Red Cross Society determined the goal of continuing to strongly innovate the patriotic emulation movement, associated with the implementation of the Resolution of the 11th and 12th National Red Cross Congresses and the Society's Development Strategy to 2030, vision 2045.

The emulation movement will focus on deepening the Association's major campaigns; promoting disaster prevention and response, community health care, blood donation and organ donation; strengthening resource mobilization, international cooperation and social humanitarian programs associated with the goal of "leaving no one behind".

The Vietnam Red Cross Society focuses on promoting propaganda and dissemination of Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on patriotic emulation and the Party and State's policies and guidelines on emulation and rewards. Along with strengthening leadership and direction so that the spirit of patriotic emulation becomes a regular awareness and responsibility of each cadre, member and volunteer, the Vietnam Red Cross Society also innovates the content and form of organizing the movement in a practical, grassroots-oriented direction, associated with building a strong organization. In addition, promptly discover, honor and replicate advanced examples, good models and creative ways in the patriotic emulation movement.

In 2025, the Vietnam Red Cross Society has always received support and companionship from the Vietnam National Energy Industry Group; KN Holdings Group; Investment Promotion and Sustainable Development Joint Stock Company; Tan Dieu Zen Monastery in humanitarian movements to develop extensively and sustainably, contributing to building a humane society, leaving no one behind.
