First day of competition at the 33rd SEA Games
At the end of the first morning of competition at the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnamese sports delegation won 1 silver medal and 4 bronze medals. This was not the desired result, so the Vietnamese athletes focused their efforts on the afternoon's competition, competing in the finals of notable events such as canoeing, swimming, and taekwondo.

Swimmer Tran Hung Nguyen is expected to successfully defend his 200m medley gold medal.
