Attending the ceremony were Vietnamese Ambassador to Switzerland Phung The Long, Ambassador and Head of the Vietnamese Delegation in Geneva Mai Phan Dung, Ms. Anjuska Weil - President of the Switzerland - Vietnam Friendship Association, Mr. Philipp Roesler, Former Deputy Prime Minister of Germany, Honorary Consul of Vietnam in the states of Zurich and Zug, Executive Committee of the Vietnamese Association in Switzerland, and nearly 500 guests who are Swiss friends and Vietnamese people living, working and studying in all 26 states of Switzerland.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Phung The Long emphasized the historical significance and significance of the Great Victory in Spring 1975 - the most brilliant milestone in the history of building and defending the country, bringing independence, freedom, and unification of the country, opening the era of national independence and socialism. Highlighting the great, righteous, sincere and effective support and assistance of the Governments of countries, people and peace-loving and progressive forces in the world , including Switzerland, Ambassador Phung The Long affirmed that Vietnam always remembers and is grateful to the loyal and brave Swiss friends who opposed the unjust war of the US Government, supported the just struggle for independence and unification of the Vietnamese people through actions such as taking to the streets to protest the war and regardless of danger, hanging the flag of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam on the tower of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France on the night of January 18, 1969 before the Paris Conference on the Vietnam War took place.
Quoting valuable lessons learned from the Great Victory of Spring 1975 in the speech of General Secretary To Lam, Ambassador Phung The Long emphasized the lesson of humanity and national harmony: "With the policy of closing the past, respecting differences, and looking toward the future, our entire Party, people and army will strive to build a peaceful, unified, happy, prosperous and developed Vietnam."

Ms. Anjuska Weil emotionally recalled the memories of the 1960s and 1970s when she and her friends took to the streets to protest against the brutal US war in Vietnam, sharing about the activities of the Swiss-Vietnamese Friendship Association since its establishment in 1982 such as reporting on Vietnam, implementing humanitarian assistance projects, supporting the lawsuit against chemical manufacturing companies to compensate Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange by Ms. Tran To Nga, the cooperation project with the Vietnamese Association in Switzerland to establish a high school named Binh Minh, promoting the teaching of Vietnamese language and culture in Switzerland..., affirming that the Swiss-Vietnamese Friendship Association will continue to accompany and support Vietnam as the Association's slogan states: "Vietnam is always our concern".
