Inter-provincial gambling ring busted, transaction amount over 200 billion VND

On February 6, Nghe An Provincial Police announced that the Provincial Police Criminal Police Department, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department (abbreviated as Cyber Security Department) in coordination with relevant units had just dismantled an online gambling ring with a transaction amount of more than 200 billion VND, arresting 12 people involved.

Initial information, in January 2023, the Criminal Police and Cyber Security force discovered a group gambling in the form of binary options (BO) on the Kinance5.Net exchange, so they opened a case to investigate.

During the process of collecting evidence, the police determined that this line was led by Ha Van Hieu (24 years old, from Binh Thanh commune, Cao Lanh district, Dong Thap province, residing in Xuan Tho commune, Xuan Loc district, Dong Nai province). Hieu's gambling line had many small-level agents in many other provinces and cities, including Nghe An.

Specifically, in Nghe An, the ring leader is Le Cong Tuan Anh (27 years old, residing in Nghia Thai commune, Tan Ky district, Nghe An). Anh's assistants are Phan Trong Huy (27 years old, residing in Nghi Lien commune, Vinh city), Truong Van Cong (26 years old, residing in Chau Quang commune, Quy Hop district, Nghe An).

After collecting evidence, from January 28 to February 3, the investigation team coordinated with the professional department and local police to simultaneously deploy 12 working groups to arrest and search suspects participating in this ring at 12 locations in the provinces of Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Vinh Phuc, Thanh Hoa, Hanoi, Quang Binh, Thua Thien-Hue, Dong Nai , Ho Chi Minh City...

In addition to Hieu, Anh, Huy and Cong, the police arrested 8 more suspects: Nguyen Van Dai (33 years old, residing in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City), Nguyen Trong Chung (30 years old, residing in Nong Cong, Thanh Hoa), Nguyen Van Toan (19 years old, residing in Vinh Yen, Vinh Phuc), Le Minh Huynh (28 years old, residing in Bo Trach district, Quang Binh), Le Van Minh Hieu (24 years old, residing in Hue city, Thua Thien-Hue), Nguyen Van A (33 years old, residing in Bac Tu Liem, Hanoi), Nguyen Van Quan (31 years old, residing in Huong Son, Ha Tinh), Phuong Van Tung (27 years old, residing in Ba Vi, Hanoi).

The police also seized evidence including 16 mobile phones of various types, 2 desktop computers, 3 laptops, and 1 CPU.

Initially, the police determined that the total amount of money this group had transacted gambling on online websites from the beginning of 2023 to now was about 200 billion VND.

The case continues to be investigated and handled by the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police in coordination with relevant units.
