MU could benefit when Marseille sells Greenwood. |
According to Fichajes , Neom SC sent Marseille an offer of up to 100 million euros and wanted to close the deal as soon as possible. Marseille did not want to part with Greenwood when he was the focus of the sports project at the Orange Vélodrome. However, the huge price tag made it difficult for the French team to ignore.
If successful, the deal will benefit MU. When selling Greenwood, the "Red Devils" included a 50 percent resale clause in the contract. If Marseille accepts the price of 100 million euros, MU will receive 50 million euros.
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano noted that MU may only receive half the profit, or about 35 million euros based on the difference compared to the original purchase price.
Leaving MU in the summer of 2024 for a fee of 30 million euros to join Marseille, the English striker immediately revived. He helped the French team qualify for the Champions League and scored the most goals in Ligue 1 in his first season. Under the guidance of coach Roberto De Zerbi this season, Greenwood continued to explode with 11 goals and 4 assists after 19 matches in all competitions.
It is no surprise that Saudi Arabian clubs have started to get involved. The offer from Neom SC could completely change Greenwood's future in the near future.
While Greenwood has shone, the situation for the young players at Old Trafford has not been very positive. Since Amorim took over, MU has rarely given a starting place in the Premier League to a player from the academy.
Even Kobbie Mainoo, a key player for both club and England, is often on the bench. This way of using players makes the future of the young talent group at Carrington uncertain.
