Presiding over the press conference held on the afternoon of November 22nd, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, emphasized that the 13th National Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union is taking place at a time when union members and workers nationwide, along with the entire Party, people, and army, are striving to seize opportunities and advantages, overcome all difficulties and challenges, and are determined to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party and Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW dated June 12, 2021, of the Politburo on "Renewing the organization and operation of the Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation".
The Congress is tasked with evaluating the results of implementing the Resolution of the 12th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union; determining the goals and tasks for the 2023-2028 term; reviewing the leadership and direction of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, 12th term; electing the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, 13th term; and evaluating the implementation and approving the amended and supplemented Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union.
It can be seen that, during the past term, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, thanks to the efforts of trade union officials, members, and workers, trade union activities continued to make important progress, especially in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers.
The organizational scale has expanded, the quality of some aspects of work has improved, and the leadership and implementation have become increasingly proactive and flexible. Many new models and effective approaches have emerged, spreading widely and being recognized by union members, workers, Party committees, government agencies, and employers. This further affirms the important role of the Vietnam Trade Union in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers, making a worthy contribution to the development and renewal of the country.
To celebrate the Congress, many meaningful activities were organized, such as the first-ever Workers' Forum 2023; a literary competition on the theme of workers and trade unions; the 2023 National Workers' Football Championship; the online competition "Sending Trust, Giving Expectations," a widespread political activity among cadres, union members, and workers to welcome the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union; organizing emulation movements at the grassroots level towards the Congress; and implementing the "Gifts from the Congress" program for union members and workers facing difficulties or suffering from serious illnesses.
Regarding some new organizational aspects, the Organizing Committee stated that the 13th Congress will strengthen discussions and open 10 thematic forums to discuss and propose initiatives on 10 major issues facing trade union organizations.
Forums are held before the official congress date to gather opinions and suggestions early on, to be compiled and incorporated into the congress documents, and to formulate solutions for implementing the resolutions.
To enhance the application of digital technology in organizing and serving the Congress, the Organizing Committee designed and operated a mobile application to provide information, documents, and facilitate communication and interaction with delegates. Communication and ceremonial decorations were also implemented systematically and extensively throughout the trade union system, across all media and communication platforms.
In addition, the artistic program was meticulously planned in terms of content, utilizing modern technology to create highlights and an exciting, enthusiastic atmosphere during the opening session of the Congress.
In addition, programs celebrating the successful conclusion of the Congress will be integrated with activities to care for workers; presenting gifts from the Congress to union members and workers in difficult circumstances; and developing and implementing plans to care for union members and workers during the Lunar New Year.
| Of the 1,100 delegates, 510 were part-time trade union officials and direct production workers; 384 delegates held postgraduate degrees – accounting for 35.39%. Among the delegates were Labor Heroes, Heroes of the Armed Forces, National Emulation Fighters, artists, teachers, and doctors awarded the titles of Excellence and People's, and 115 delegates had been awarded the Labor Medal. |
