The journey was not smooth.
Diogo Jota once said that his first football memory was associated with EURO 2004, the tournament started right in Porto, near his home in the university district of Massarelos.
The tournament associated with Cristiano Ronaldo's tears, when Portugal lost to Greece in the final, launched his football career.

There is an important bridge there: Ronaldo . Diogo Jota considers CR7 an idol.
Jota’s journey has never been smooth. In 2016, he was the centrepiece of a surprise move between Pacos de Ferreira and Atletico Madrid, worth nearly €8m – of which the club received less than €3m.
The remainder is divided among various agents who own the economic rights to the player. Jorge Mendes' Gestifute company owns 40% of these rights.
It was a win-win for everyone, including Atletico, who later sold him to Wolves for €14m after a loan spell.
Jota only played in three friendlies for Atletico, because right after the training period with Diego Simeone, he was sent to Porto on loan.
That summer of 2016, Jota was one of 13 players sent out on loan by Atletico. He, along with Theo Hernandez and Oliver Torres, continued to develop and play at the highest level in Europe.
His time at Wolves brought Diogo Jota to Liverpool's attention. The €42 million transfer was completed and he quickly won over the fans at Anfield.
Liverpool warrior
“We signed Jota because he had the desire,” Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager at the time, replied when asked why he made the transfer.

Between options like Timo Werner, Jonathan David or Ismaila Sarr, he chose the Portuguese guy - who is not afraid of challenges.
Jota joined Liverpool in September 2020 when the season had already started, and scored nine goals in his first 12 games, including a hat-trick against Atalanta in the Champions League.
He benched Roberto Firmino until he was injured and ruled out for two months. “He’s much better than I thought,” Klopp admitted recently, after leaving Liverpool.

Before Klopp, Nuno Santo was the most influential person on Diogo Jota, taking him from Porto to Wolves.
“I have to say Jota loves football, watches every game he can. He is one of the most dedicated players I have ever worked with,” said Nuno Santo, when he left to join Liverpool.
From Liverpool to Portugal, Diogo Jota has been a key player. He keeps his team together and plays effectively with his enthusiasm.
Ronaldo once said that Diogo Jota helps Portugal operate effectively because he brings energy, running, diagonal movement and comprehensive support in attack. Opposing defenses find it difficult to grasp his style of play.
Furthermore, Diogo Jota has a natural instinct for scoring goals. Between Klopp and Arne Slot, he has always been effective whenever he has been used. In his first season, in terms of goals per minute efficiency, he even stood out more than Salah and Mane.
Diogo Jota won two UEFA Nations League titles with Portugal and three other trophies with Liverpool. However, his career ended when he was at the peak...
