In his opening remarks, Mr. Tran Minh Dung, Deputy General Director of EVNNPC, stated: “ Over the years, EVNNPC has received financial support in the form of preferential loans from the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany through KfW Bank.”

With access to loans from the German government, EVNNPC's power grid system has achieved its goals of increasing electricity supply capacity, improving power quality, enhancing power supply reliability, and ensuring safety standards for the distribution grid, while also laying the groundwork for the development of a smart grid in line with Vietnam's power system modernization roadmap.

The 110kV Yen Thang - Nam Dinh substation is one of the projects built with loan capital from the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany through the German Reconstruction Bank KfW, representing a tangible result of cooperation between the two countries, with the Vietnamese electricity sector as the recipient and beneficiary.

The project, which includes the construction of 3,076 km of new 110 kV double-circuit ACSR 300/39 conductor lines and the Yen Thang 110 kV substation with two 40 MVA transformers, has already completed the installation of one T1 - 110/35/22 kV - 40 MVA transformer, which was energized and put into operation on June 4, 2023, providing 128 million kWh of electricity to 44,472 customers.

The project brings economic and technical benefits to the operation of the power grid; political, social, and environmental benefits such as: improving power quality, reducing power losses; ensuring stable power supply for residential and production loads, especially stable power supply for large pumping stations serving agricultural production; attracting investors to develop production in nearby industrial clusters, contributing to local socio-economic development, ensuring security and political stability in the area...

In light of global trends, the visible scarcity of electricity supply in the North, and the shared responsibility with the Government to fulfill national commitments on climate change at the COP 26 global climate conference, green transition is inevitable. EVNNPC is always aware of its role in the energy transition process, which is to improve the power grid infrastructure to meet the diverse needs of electricity sources, especially the growth of renewable energy sources.

At the same time, investment in the development of the power distribution grid is identified as a core and top strategic priority, ensuring electricity supply to serve socio-economic development and the lives of people in the northern provinces.

During the period 2021-2025, EVNNPC invested approximately 90,000 billion VND in power grid construction. To ensure electricity supply meets the socio-economic development goals with an average GDP growth rate of approximately 7% per year during the period 2021-2030, it is projected that over 100,000 billion VND will be invested in power grid construction during the period 2026-2030.

With close cooperation between the two countries, and the attention and determination from the Vietnamese Government, ministries, and relevant parties, EVNNPC expresses its desire to continue receiving support and partnership from the German Government and KfW Bank in the coming time, with preferential policies and financial, technological, and technical support to help the Corporation gradually achieve its goals and role, achieve sustainable growth, and contribute to the sustainable development of the 27 provinces and cities in the northern region under EVNNPC's management.

It is known that Vietnam and Germany have experienced a period of sustainable and comprehensive development. Since 2011, the two countries have established a Strategic Partnership. In 2013, energy became one of the German Government's cooperation priorities in Vietnam.

The Federal Republic of Germany is a pioneering country in the field of renewable energy and has been implementing many policies to support Vietnam in its energy transition, specifically through financial support, technical assistance, policy development support, and cooperation in projects such as wind and solar power projects.

In 2023, the prestigious global credit rating agency Fitch Ratings upgraded EVNNPC's credit rating to BB+, with a "Stable" outlook. EVNNPC's independent credit profile is rated at 'BB+', on par with the credit profile of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and Vietnam's national credit rating (BB+/Stable).
