As part of their visit and working trip to Ninh Binh , on the morning of April 11th, the delegation from the Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Vietnam attended a memorial service, offered incense, and planted a commemorative tree at the Nhồi Hoa Princess Temple (Thai Son village, Son Lai commune, Nho Quan district). The delegation was led by Mr. Khamphao Ernthavanh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam.
On the provincial side, the delegation was welcomed by Comrade Tong Quang Thin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Department of Culture and Sports , the Provincial People's Committee Office, and Nho Quan district.
According to historical records, in the 15th century during the reign of King Le Thanh Tong, Princess Nhoi Hoa, daughter of the King of Vientiane (Laos), was appointed by her father as an ambassador, bringing a herd of elephants to help Dai Viet train its elephant corps. After completing her mission, on her way back, Princess Nhoi Hoa unfortunately fell ill and passed away.
In recognition of the princess's great contributions, King Le Thanh Tong ordered the construction of a mausoleum and a temple at the very spot where the princess passed away, now located in Thai Son village, Son Lai commune, Nho Quan district. Currently, the historical site consists of two parts: the Upper Temple - dedicated to Princess Nhoi Hoa, and the Lower Temple - dedicated to Saint Quy Minh Dai Vuong.
The Nhồi Hoa Princess Temple is a cultural and spiritual relic of the local people and was recognized as a provincial-level historical and cultural relic in 2007. Every year, the local people organize a traditional festival on the 3rd day of the 3rd lunar month with traditional cultural and artistic activities of both Vietnam and Laos.
During their visit to Ninh Binh on the anniversary of Princess Nhoi Hoa's death, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam, along with members of the delegation and the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Tong Quang Thin, attended the procession, offered incense, and planted Champa trees at the temple dedicated to Princess Nhoi Hoa.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam affirmed: The ancient story shows the friendship, solidarity, and close ties between the Vietnamese and Lao peoples, which have been built over many centuries.
I hope that in the future, the agencies of both countries and historians will pay attention to and research the history of the temple; developing it into a famous cultural and historical tourist destination, attracting Vietnamese, Lao, and international tourists to visit and learn about the relics. Through this, the temple will become a symbol of the tradition, the great friendship, the special solidarity, and the comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, the two states, and the people of Vietnam and Laos.
