Built in 1994 on the Ca Mau shoal, 67 nautical miles from the mainland, the DK1/10 platform is a landmark affirming the inviolable sovereignty of the southern continental shelf of the Fatherland.
Overcoming numerous difficulties, the soldiers of the DK1/10 offshore platform continue the tradition of "As long as there are people, there will be the platform," standing as indomitable fortresses in the open sea, contributing to maintaining sovereignty and serving as a solid support for thousands of fishermen on the southern continental shelf.

Earlier, on September 13th, at Battalion 553 (Phu Quoc Special Zone), the 5th Naval Region held a ceremony to receive a vegetable garden with netting donated by the Party Committee, Government, and people of Ho Chi Minh City.
Attending the ceremony were Rear Admiral Do Van Yen, Deputy Political Commissar of the Navy; and Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tien Luc, Political Officer of Battalion 553, emphasized: “Receiving this project today, we are even more deeply moved by the affection, trust, and love that the Party Committee, government, and people of Ho Chi Minh City have for the soldiers stationed on the remote islands. This is a great source of encouragement for the officers and soldiers of Battalion 553 to continue to maintain vigilance, be ready to fight, and firmly protect the sovereignty of the airspace, sea, islands, and continental shelf of the Southwest of the Fatherland, worthy of the trust and love of the Party, the State, and the people.”
The vegetable garden project, utilizing netting technology, has overcome the specific challenges of the island's climate, limiting pests and diseases, reducing the use of pesticides, and proactively providing a source of safe, fresh vegetables. After nearly three months of operation, the garden has supplied the unit's mess hall with over 1,100 kg of vegetables and root crops, significantly improving meal quality, enhancing physical fitness, and boosting the morale of the soldiers.
