The voluntary blood donation program "Giving a Drop of Red Blood - Sharing Life" is organized by the VietinBank Youth Union to inspire the spirit of volunteerism among VietinBank's officials, Party members, Youth Union members, and employees in participating in social activities, promoting the nation's tradition of mutual support and compassion, and supplementing blood reserves for medical facilities to save and treat patients.
Launched in September across the entire VietinBank system, the program has organized 24 blood donation drives with the participation of 82 branches, companies, and affiliated units of VietinBank in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, and many other provinces and cities, collecting more than 2,000 units of blood donated to medical facilities nationwide.
On October 26, 2024, the VietinBank Youth Union, in coordination with the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and the Ba Dinh District Youth Union, organized the opening ceremony of the "Giving a Drop of Red Blood - Sharing Life" voluntary blood donation program in Hanoi. The program was attended by officials, Party members, Youth Union members, employees, and their relatives from VietinBank branches, companies, and units in Hanoi and neighboring provinces (Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, Nam Dinh ).
The program was attended by leaders and distinguished guests: Comrade Le Lam – Deputy Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion; Comrade Pham Thu Phuong – Secretary of the Ba Dinh District Youth Union; Comrade Do Khac Dung – Deputy Secretary of the Central Enterprise Bloc Youth Union; Comrade Tran Kien Cuong – Standing Deputy Secretary of the VietinBank Party Committee; Comrade Cat Quang Duong – Member of the VietinBank Board of Directors; Comrade Doan Thi Kieu Huong – Member of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Enterprise Bloc Youth Union, Member of the Party Committee, Standing Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee, Secretary of the VietinBank Youth Union; Comrade Duong Nhat Hoang – Standing Deputy Secretary, Head of the Inspection Committee of the VietinBank Youth Union, along with leaders from the Head Office, branches, companies, and affiliated units of VietinBank, VietinBank youth union officials and members, and valued customers.
At the opening ceremony, on behalf of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of VietinBank, Comrade Tran Kien Cuong – Standing Deputy Secretary of the VietinBank Party Committee – acknowledged and highly appreciated the Youth Union for its idea and for maintaining the organization of this meaningful blood donation program, which carries profound humanitarian value and spreads the cultural values of Empathy and Dedication. Comrade Tran Kien Cuong also requested the VietinBank Youth Union to continue maintaining and expanding this meaningful activity.
Attending the program, Mr. Le Lam – Deputy Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion – shared: “I am extremely impressed with VietinBank because it is a unit that regularly organizes many meaningful events in the voluntary blood donation movement. For example, the program “Giving a Drop of Red Blood – Sharing Life” – a large-scale event across the entire system that attracted thousands of volunteers nationwide. I am also moved by the volunteer spirit and proactive approach of VietinBank employees, who participated in and provided a large amount of blood to medical facilities to save and treat patients.”
Also at the program, the Standing Committee of the VietinBank Youth Union awarded Certificates of Merit to 12 collectives and 18 individuals who had achieved outstanding results in the voluntary blood donation movement during the period 2022 – 2024.
Following the opening ceremony, a large number of volunteers, including officials, Party members, Youth Union members, employees, and loyal customers of VietinBank, gathered at the Quan Ngua Gymnasium in Ba Dinh, Hanoi, to participate in health check-ups and safe blood donation procedures. The collected blood will be transferred to hospitals and medical facilities to help patients in need of blood to sustain their lives, as well as to alleviate the current blood shortage.
In summary, the "Giving a Drop of Red Blood - Sharing Life" voluntary blood donation program in 2024 contributed a total of 3,000 units of blood to medical facilities throughout the VietinBank system. Through this, every VietinBank employee hopes to further develop and improve this practical activity to help patients and spread love and responsibility towards the community and society.
