Lam Dong businesses connect for sustainable development

In the integration flow, sustainable development is no longer an option, but has become an inevitable requirement for every economy. In Lam Dong, the OCOP product exhibition in the “Experiential Month” clearly outlined that.

More than just a trade promotion event, the exhibition has become a meeting place where businesses connect with farmers, cooperatives and communities to together affirm values, build brands and create a green future.

The Power of Convergence and Connection

The OCOP product exhibition in Lam Dong is not only a place to display production achievements but also a testament to a progressive business philosophy: connection is the key to reaching further. Ms. Vo Thi Hoang Yen, Deputy Director of Lam Dong Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, emphasized: “Enterprises can only develop sustainably when they connect together. Each booth and each product at the exhibition not only represents individual efforts but also the crystallization of cooperation, support and sharing between parties.”

The connection at the exhibition is demonstrated through the close relationship between economic components. Agricultural enterprises need the support of farmers and cooperatives to ensure quality raw materials. In turn, cooperatives need enterprises to lead in processing and distribution. Handicraft artisans cannot develop without being attached to the tourism industry and modern consumer markets. Meanwhile, the tourism industry is only truly sustainable when there are typical products with strong local identity from the OCOP community.

Thanks to this connection, the value of OCOP products is enhanced. A product standing alone is just a commodity, but when placed in a linked ecosystem, it becomes a symbol of the land, carrying cultural stories, community values and collective reputation. This is how OCOP Lam Dong builds trust with domestic consumers and opens up opportunities to conquer the international market.

A typical example of effective connection is the story of Vien Son Joint Stock Company. Mr. Nguyen Duy Da, Director of the company, shared: “We have linked up with more than 40 households in Lam Dong to purchase sweet potato agricultural products. Our products are currently exported to demanding markets such as Japan. In particular, we focus on selecting varieties, ensuring the quality of raw materials. Cooperating with people not only helps us feel secure about the raw material area but also creates jobs, bringing stable income to Lam Dong people”.

The connection is also demonstrated through the spirit of openness and learning. At the exhibition, businesses did not hesitate to share their experiences in production, brand building and were willing to cooperate for mutual development. A representative of Hoang Nguyen Garden Co., Ltd. affirmed: “In the context of globalization, we clearly understand that strength does not come from isolation but from resonance. Instead of keeping secrets, businesses need to cooperate to create greater value.”

The OCOP exhibition has created a community economic ecosystem in Lam Dong, where businesses, farmers, artisans, tourism industry and local authorities work together. Each OCOP product not only represents a production facility but also symbolizes a land rich in identity, full of aspirations to rise up.

Sustainable development on the basis of linkage

If connectivity is the foundation, then sustainable development is the destination of OCOP enterprises in Lam Dong. In the context of the world facing climate change, environmental crisis and challenges in the supply chain, sustainable development is not only a responsibility but also a strategy for enterprises to create long-term competitive advantages.

Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong, Director of Lam Dong Agricultural Extension Center, emphasized: “Sustainable development requires linking production with environmental protection. Lam Dong agriculture cannot only pursue output but must prioritize quality and safety. Enterprises need to accompany farmers in converting to green, organic and circular farming models. This is the inevitable path to building a sustainable brand.”

Lam Dong is making efforts to enhance the OCOP brand, combining high-tech agriculture with tourism to increase the value of agricultural products, create sustainable livelihoods for people and affirm its position on the national economic-tourism map. Mr. Dinh Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, affirmed: "We pay special attention to building the OCOP product brand, linking agriculture with tourism, thereby enhancing the value of local agricultural products, creating sustainable livelihoods and contributing to bringing Lam Dong further."

Linkage in the value chain is also a key factor. From raw material production, processing, distribution to promotion, each link needs to be closely connected to create a synchronized chain.

Enterprises need to build strong relationships with cooperatives, cooperative groups and production households to ensure a stable source of fuel. At the same time, it is necessary to link with retail systems, supermarkets and e-commerce platforms to bring products to consumers. In particular, the combination with the tourism industry will turn OCOP products into unique experiences, becoming unforgettable memories for tourists.

At the same time, digital transformation also plays an important role in the journey of sustainable development. The application of digital technology, QR codes, traceability and e-commerce not only increases transparency but also helps businesses access a wider market. To do this, connections with experts, universities and research institutes are necessary to put knowledge into production practice.

Above all, sustainable development requires community engagement. When businesses and communities are connected, OCOP products will become a symbol of harmonious development, carrying both economic, social and spiritual values.

With continuous efforts, Lam Dong is gradually building a sustainable economic ecosystem, where OCOP is not only a product but also the pride of the South Central region. That journey, although there are many challenges, but with consensus and connection, Lam Dong enterprises can completely turn OCOP into a strong brand, not only on the national map but also reaching the international level.
