For many years, the Dang family's hamlet has been known as a peaceful village adorned with murals.
These murals depict simple beauty, portraying the everyday life of the people, such as the highland landscape with hills, streams, plants, flowers, and beloved images of ethnic minorities…
According to the People's Committee of Mong Cai City, the Dang family hamlet was previously a remote residential area, mainly inhabited by the Thanh Y Dao ethnic group. Since 1979, 15 Dao households (now 20 households) with the surname Tang came here to establish a new hamlet in Po Hen village. Because the surname Tang sounds similar to Dang, the local government named it the Dang family hamlet.
Since 2017, the Mong Cai City government has been planning to develop this area into an exploratory tourism destination. After improving transportation infrastructure, local authorities and residents have planned and organized border tourism activities; this includes assigning various organizations to coordinate with local people to create murals.

The paintings depict the simple life of the local people.
Initially, only about 10 households participated, but now every house in the Dang family hamlet has been adorned with unique paintings.
In particular, visiting the mural village of the Dang family in May, tourists can immerse themselves in the vibrant and colorful sim flower festival, such as the "Po Hen market" showcasing local products, specialties, and cuisine; participate in sports and folk games like women's football matches at Po Hen; tug-of-war, stick pushing, crossbow shooting, spinning tops, throwing the ball, monkey bridge, blindfolded duck catching; and rice cake wrapping competitions…
