On the afternoon of September 9th, coach Kim Sang Sik announced the starting lineup for the Vietnam U23 team's match against Yemen U23 in the final round of Group C of the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup Qualifiers, which will take place at 7 PM at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ).
Similar to the previous two matches against U23 Bangladesh and Singapore, coach Kim Sang Sik made five changes to the starting lineup in the crucial match against U23 Yemen to determine qualification for the Finals.
Notably, coach Kim Sang Sik benched key striker Dinh Bac and completely revamped the attacking line compared to the hard-fought 1-0 victory against U23 Singapore. Specifically, he deployed a forward trio of Van Khang, Quoc Viet, and Ngoc My.
This was Quoc Viet's first start in the 2026 U23 Asian Cup qualifiers, after only coming on as a substitute in the previous two matches. For Ngoc My, this was her second start after the opening match win against U23 Bangladesh, where she scored the opening goal.
In midfield, coach Kim Sang Sik also fielded the central midfield duo of Thai Son and Xuan Bac together for the first time. Captain and key midfielder Van Truong was on the bench.
Left-back Phi Hoang returned to the starting lineup for this match to help improve Vietnam U23's attack. However, right-back Vo Anh Quan did not. Coach Kim Sang Sik still trusted Minh Phuc in this match, just like in the game against Singapore U23.
In defense, center-back Ly Duc also returns to replace Tuan Phong. This is also the main trio of center-backs for Vietnam U23 alongside goalkeeper Trung Kien, who plays very solidly. All of this is aimed at fending off the attacking power of Yemen U23.
