Tra Co Border Guard Station manages the 12.4km long border (5.6km on land, 6.8km on river and sea) adjacent to China. This is an area where illegal immigration, smuggling, trade fraud (BLGLTM), illegal transportation of goods, drug crimes, etc. frequently take place.
Clearly identifying the specific characteristics of the area, the Station has synchronously deployed professional measures, focusing on effectively combating all types of crimes, preventing the formation of hot spots, and firmly ensuring sovereignty and security and order in the border area.
Typically, on July 14, 2025, while patrolling the sea area of Trang Vi (Mong Cai 1 ward), the working group of the Station coordinated with the Drug and Crime Prevention Task Force (Provincial Border Guard) to discover a raft without a license plate, driven by Ly Van Xuan (born in 1990), transporting 4 tons of milk oysters from the Chinese sea to the mainland. The subject could not present documents related to the vehicle, driver's certificate and goods invoice. The case has been filed for handling according to regulations.
Previously, on May 26, the Station discovered and handled a case of illegally transporting 80kg of crayfish (a species banned from import and harmful to the ecological environment) through landmark 1378. The subject Vu Gia Hoi confessed to buying this amount of goods from a Chinese person for more than 22 million VND to use as gifts.
These are just two of many cases of smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border that the Station has recently discovered and handled. Since the beginning of 2025, the Station has proactively developed and deployed many professional plans on the fight against and prevention of crimes of smuggling, counterfeit goods, illegal fishing, and illegal immigration to all subordinate professional teams and groups; clearly defining the responsibilities of the forces directly involved in this work.
The unit also regularly coordinates closely with other functional forces such as police, customs, coast guard, etc. to organize interdisciplinary patrols, exchange professional information, and promptly handle arising situations.
The station promotes propaganda work and advises local authorities to establish self-managed security teams in residential groups, especially in Tra Co Parish. Thereby contributing to promoting the strength of the entire people in protecting sovereignty and maintaining border security.
The officers and soldiers of the Station actively participate in social security activities. Responding to the program "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses", the unit recently coordinated with the locality to support 100 million VND for Ms. Vu Thi Tam, a poor household in Mong Cai 1 ward, to build a house. Many other meaningful activities such as "Spring on the border warms the hearts of the villagers", "Helping children go to school - Adopted children of the border station", "Border lessons" were deployed by the unit.
With drastic and appropriate solutions, from the beginning of 2025 until now, the Station has arrested and handled 18 cases/45 law violators; of which 4 cases/6 subjects were handled criminally, 14 cases/39 subjects were handled administratively; seized evidence included 3.05g of ketamine, 3,520 packs of cigarettes, 1,232 laughing gas cylinders, 80kg of crayfish and many other items.
In the last months of the year, the Station continued to improve the quality of professional work, strengthen close monitoring of the area, synchronously deploy effective measures to combat all types of crimes, and maintain peace in the northernmost part of the country.
