On the afternoon of March 30, a rescue team of 106 people from the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence and Ministry of Public Security, led by Major General Pham Van Ty, Deputy Director of the Rescue and Relief Department of the Ministry of National Defence, and Colonel Nguyen Minh Khuong, Deputy Director of the Fire Prevention and Fighting Department of the Ministry of Public Security, along with relief supplies, landed at Yangon Airport, Myanmar.

Welcoming the delegation to the Myanmar side at the airport were Mr. U Soe Thein, Chief Minister of Yangon region; on the Vietnamese side were Vietnamese Ambassador to Myanmar Ly Quoc Tuan, Defense Attaché, Colonel Dao Van Duy, and all officers and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar.

To help Myanmar overcome the consequences of the earthquake, Vietnam has decided to provide emergency relief supplies at Myanmar's request, providing 300,000 USD in aid to help Myanmar overcome the consequences of the earthquake.

According to the plan, starting on March 31st, Vietnamese rescue teams will deploy to carry out rescue and relief operations in earthquake-affected areas. Relief supplies will also be delivered to people in the affected regions.

These efforts by the Party, State, and people of Vietnam to support Myanmar, a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), in overcoming and mitigating the consequences of natural disasters demonstrate Vietnam's tradition of "caring for others as if they were one's own," its international responsibility, and its humanitarian spirit, while also affirming the prestige and capacity of Vietnamese rescue and relief forces in participating in international activities.

Previously, on March 28, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and the Vietnam-Myanmar Friendship Association also sent messages of condolences to the people of Myanmar./.
