The Khen is a precious heritage of the Mong people in particular and the ethnic groups in Ha Giang in general. Currently in Dong Van, thanks to measures to preserve traditional culture, people are increasingly aware of preserving and promoting the value of the Khen in modern life.

Giang Mi Si and Sung Mi Son are two "child artists" participating in the opening ceremony of the 10th Mong Panpipe Festival in Dong Van District in 2025. During the festival, the two children danced with the panpipe in the old town yard to serve the locals and tourists who wanted to see the Mong panpipe dance. Although only 7 and 8 years old this year, Si and Son showed themselves to be quite skilled in the panpipe movements.

Many tourists are excited to come to Dong Van Stone Plateau to enjoy the art of performing the Khen Mong – a national intangible cultural heritage by children like Si and Son. In today’s children, the source of culture is still flowing underground, passed down from generations of fathers and brothers. They are the cultural subjects who will continue to preserve and spread the Khen sound of their people far and wide.

The Khen blowing and dancing competition is one of the most important contents of the Hmong Khen Festival in Dong Van district. The competition aims to encourage, motivate and find the most outstanding artists in practicing the Hmong Khen songs. 19 communes and towns in Dong Van district sent their best artists to perform pieces from the song "Origin of the Khen". The Khen songs must be original, not mixed or deviated from tradition.
With many measures being implemented persistently and actively, Dong Van district has aroused the pride and awareness of preserving traditional culture of ethnic minorities. That is also a valuable "soft resource" for the district to achieve socio-economic development goals, especially local tourism.
